Whilst the hotel could ,in general ,do with a little bit of redec,it is a decent place,very clean and in great location. Lots of cool places to eat just round the corner.The location of the hotel is great for exploration of the city.underground station literally just outside the hotel. Found staff helpful and kind. Very attractive price at short time of booking.

Comfortable Budget Hotel”
The Hotel is right by Samariterstraße U-Bahn so travel to pretty much everywhere in Berlin is easy, including both Schönefeld and Tegel airports. There are convenience stores, bakeries and plenty of other shops next to the Hotel and staff available 24h to help with any queries. Friedrichshain has many cool bars and a young vibe with takeaway food available more or less around the clock. There is also a nice food market on Saturdays and flea market on Sundays in Boxhagener Platz which is close by. The Hotel itself is basic as the rooms do not come with a kettle, but this is provided by the hotel free of charge if you request a tea/coffee set. Iron and ironing board is also provided upon request but bring your OWN hairdryer as the one in the rooms is completely useless and took me ages to get my hair dry. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel because 10EUR seemed a bit excessive in Berlin. There is a bar in the lobby with a relatively good selection of drinks and the Hotel has all the important amenities such as luggage storage, daily housekeeping, safe in the rooms and free toiletries that you can request from reception according to your needs. Our room was really quiet and the bed comfortable so we had a really enjoyable stay. The only thing that was missing was wi-fi connection. It seemed to work in the lobby only and we had other friends staying in the hotel who had the same problem too. The hotel was aware of the issue but unable to help and looking at some of the other reviews our experience was by no means isolated so don't expect to be able to use wi-fi in the rooms! It made communication with the rest of our group (some of whom were staying in a nearby hostel) pretty difficult and in the end my boyfriend had to use his roaming a lot resulting in a large phone bill. Not ideal when free wi-fi is advertised as available in all rooms! Staff were, however, very accommodating and friendly throughout our stay so we would definitely recommend this hotel.

Basic hotel, excellent location”
It was my second time in Berlin, and i knew that eastern part of the city is the place to go if you want to enjoy the best out of the city. The location of the hotel is superb. Great restaurants with impressive breakfast/brunch-offers and bars with lots of young stylish folks wait for you just across the street. On sunday there's an awesome flee-market just within a walking distance. The hotel is located very conveniently just in front of a metro exit. It takes 10 min to Alexanderplatz. For us the location and the hassle-minimization was the most important thing when choosing a hotel. The room was clean and quiet and very beige. In a word, very hotel-like. The bed/bathroom were nice. If I really have to nag, the service wasn't very enthusiastic and even though I asked for a smaller pillow twice, i didn't get it (but i did receive sincere apologies). In Berlin there's a lot of possibilities for a truly berliner accommodation (people renting nice apartments for short stays/über cool hotels like michelberger etc.), Best Western is nothing like that. It's just an ok hotel, and for that, we were very pleased. Look for offers, we paid 48 e per night in a comfort room. Great value for money.

Perfect hotel if you’re wanting to be out of the tourist trap. Me and my partner wanted to hit the cool areas of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg this hotel was perfect. With a metro station right outside the front door you have access to the whole of Berlin. Cheap rooms with a more expensive feel and accommodating, helpful staff. Would book here again. 5 stars from us

Great value for the money”
Located right above a U bahn station, 5 stations away from Alexanderplatz. The room was very clean and tidy. air conditioning worked fine. The minibar looked small but it was enough for us. The safe worked. They probably fixed the wifi issues in the rooms, because we were able to connect very easily and used it without particular problems. Near the hotel you can find supermarket, bakery, coffee places, and kiosk where you can buy Lebara sim card for 1 euro and load it with the deal for internet or whatever you need. We didn't take the breakfast so no opinion on this. 2 concerns: When we checked in the receptionist insisted we have to pay additional city tax. I told him the city tax was included, but since we had a long way to get there I decided to deal with it later. On checkout another receptionist mentioned the city tax, found this as a mistake and refunded us. Another concern is the two pc computers in the lobby. One of them didn't work at all, while the other was soooo slow, that is almost unusable. Overall this hotel is very recommended and met our expectations.

Excellent value for money hotel in good location”
our room was clean, spacious enough, modern, and with effective airconditioning that we could control. the bed linen was excellent, bright white and crisp. the staff were helpful and friendly, and the hotel is well located with a subway station, bakery and supermarket right at the front door of the hotel. there are many cafes within close walking distance. the room price made it a great value for money hotel. we highly recommend this hotel

Nice location, comfy bed and friendly staff”
Overall quite a good hotel. Lifts a little slow, and loud construction work is going on behind the building at all hours during the day but the room was large, clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful (didn't charge me for checking out an hour late) there is a supermarket right next door and a bakery as well and it's only a 10m walk to the U-Bahn, which is only a 10 minute trip to the City (Alexanderplatz) would stay here again!

WiFi not working”
The Wifi was not working at all! Neither in the room, nor in the lobby. Staff said management is aware of the issue, but has not been able to provide any improvement. Quite any unsatisfactory... any shady hostel I've been to in Vietnam provides internet, but Best Western in Central Berlin in unable to do so - quite poor!

Great location, directly opposite subway stop, lovely staff. Loads of good places to eat in this area. Great location to explore Berlin. Did not have breakfast but loads of coffee shops in area and one next door to hotel. Wifi not available in all rooms particularly if your room is far from the lift.

had the metro station been any closer it would have ended up in the hotel lobby................ such was its proximity to hotel!!!! therefore initial thoughts about location were immediately dispensed with. loved the real workaday, interesting atmosphere of the location with the hotel well ensconced in former East Berlin. Staff more than helpful and welcoming, hotel room very satisfactory. Great value for money so no problem recommending.

Fantastic location. It was my first time in Berlin and this hotel is situated right next to the train station. You can't get lost even if you wanted to. It takes about 20mins to get to places of interests but for the price we paid, it was worth it!

ive been booked severel 3 stars hotels before & by far this is one of the best 3stars hotel ive stayed. amazing value for money, the underground train is right on your doorstep as youre coming out the hotel. a few stops away from alexander platz for main connections to wherever you need to go & plenty of shops & restaurants if you dont fancy going to the center. most highly recommended for your middle of range budget!

It's just above the metro”
Thank god it's so near to the metro that we could run straight to the hotel in this freaking cold winter. The front desk staff were friendly. The room was okay. We kinda enjoy our stay here. It's not very close to city centre but Alexanderplaz is just a few stations away. Quite convenient in terms of accessibility.

Close to the train, but small room”
Our stay at the Best Western Hotel City Ost was reasonable. The hotel itself was good, but the room was small and breakfast and parking quite expensive. As above the entrance to the U Bahn was right outside the front door, but a line that required changes to get to most attractions.

Great clean hotel (and not expensive at all)”
We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in April 2011. The hotel is clean, new linens and towels. It is located on a main street, but has sound proof windows and when they are closed you can not hear anything. The breakfast costs 9 euro per person, but you can eat at the bakery next door. There is a metro station in front of the hotel, and it is about 7 minutes by U-bahn to Alexander Platz. The only problem is that the room didn't had a mini-fridge and a kattle. I recommend the hotel

We enjoyed our stay very much.. staff was great n professional.. its 10 mins by metro to town and the station is just right at the door step of the hotel its really a selling point when u want have cheaper hotel just out of town. A supermarket just 2 doors away and also plenty of local resturant food is plenty.. will definately stay again given a chance to go berlin highly recommand.
