“Relaxing Family Stay at Park Royal A'Famosa – Great Potential with Some Areas to Improve”
A clean, quiet, and family-friendly hotel with great service and thoughtful touches. With some improvements in the kids' area and evening lounge facilities, this place has the potential to be truly outstanding. We’ll be back! We recently stayed a night at Park Royal A’Famosa and overall had a pleasant and relaxing experience. The hotel is located a bit far from Melaka city, but that actually makes it a peaceful retreat — ideal for family gatherings. We plan to return and stay for a longer visit next time. We booked the Superior Queen Room (2 queen beds) which was just right for our family of five (with three young kids). The room layout was practical — we especially appreciated the separate toilet and shower area. The provided shampoo and shower gel were of a good brand and smelled really nice. The hotel in general is well-maintained and clean, including the swimming pool area, which our kids absolutely loved. However, we had a disappointing experience at the kids’ room. When we visited around 8am, it was clean and tidy. But when we returned at 1pm, it was extremely messy — leftover sand from kids' sand art was all over the tables and floor. What shocked us was that the staff were just sitting at the counter using their phones and not making any effort to clean up. It's a concern because young children might accidentally put color sand into their mouths. There were also kids playing with bubble guns indoors on carpet, and the staff didn’t intervene. It’s a fun space for kids, but cleanliness and safety should be a higher priority. Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety. The staff managed the morning crowd efficiently by splitting guests between the main dining area and a Chinese dining room. We were told the food was mostly the same except for dim sum and noodles — although in reality, quite a few items were missing at the Chinese restaurant. Still, it was more than enough for a satisfying breakfast, and we were allowed to get food from both areas. A special touch we really appreciated was the kids’ passport activity, where kids could redeem ice cream before check-out — a delightful treat for them! Also, late check-out was available, which made our stay even more relaxing. The only thing we really missed was a cool, air-conditioned lounge area with sofas where guests could sit down, have a drink, or gather in the evening. That night there was a private event, so the usual games weren’t running and only a movie was shown. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much seating space elsewhere. The main lobby lounge was full, and our group of 15 ended up sitting separately, and it was quite hot. That said, the staff were exceptionally friendly — including the security guards. A big thank you to the team for the sweet gesture of sending a birthday cake to our son when we mentioned we were celebrating his birthday. It made his day extra special.
