Confort y buen ambiente ”

Teníamos q estar lo más cerca del aeropuerto y este hotel lo está. Tienen un minibus con servicio de transporte gratuito con horario al aeropuerto. Llegamos pasadas las 23;00 horas y tenían servicio de cocina 24 horas.. a estas horas pedimos espaguetis y Singapur noodle .. no esperaba nada fantástico pero resultó ser una delicia!! La cama era grande y un colchón muy cómodo ... q apreciábamos porq estábamos molidos por el viaje. La ambientación de la habitación es de los interiores de un avión. Os recomiendo reservar aquí y comprobar lo que digo. En contra pero q no tiene relación con el hotel .. es la ciudad . Johannesburgo es de las peores , caótica y confusa grandes ciudades que jamas haya visitado y a la q nunca volvería y para nada recomiendo visitar.

Good in overall”

The female receptionist named Thato if im not mistaken was super nice super friendly and very polite. The exact welcome i was looking for as soon as i arrived in south africa for the first time. Room review - nice, comfy mattress, room service dining was deliscious! I got room facing the tarmac, no distrubance at all. Slept like a baby.

A Great Place to Stay”

This was the third business trip to Africa that I've stayed at the Protea OR Tambo. I'm only ever transiting so need a good hotel near to the airport. I've tried several of the other bigger hotel options, but this is by far the best. The rooms are small but well designed, the beds are very comfortable and I always get a good nights rest. The restaurant is excellent, breakfast is very good as are the options for dinner. Importantly the shuttle service from the airport is quick and efficient. The staff are friendly and helpful. I'll be sure to stay here again on my next trip.

Surprisingly good”

We random picked a hotel near the airport as we need to catch another flight early next morning. The hotel was very nicely decorated and the room was comfy. Staff was helpful and cheerful. Only thing is that you would need to take Uber/taxi to the hotel as it is beyond walking distance, though just a 10min ride.

Suitable for a short stopover”

Nice airport themed hotel with comfortable rooms. The restaurant however is really bad and expensive and the service is slow and unfriendly. Its quite sad since it is so easy to get good and cheap food and good service almost anywhere in South Africa.

Good Value for Money Friendly Service”

Great hotel for transit passengers. Rooms are compact but comfortable, very comfortable bed. Restaurant is very good, excellent breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Having tried some of the other near airport hotels this is my favourite.

Transfer Hotel”

Good transfer Hotel, close to airport with good shuttle service. Rooms are small, with 2 big suitcases not much room to put them down. Shower is in the sleepingroom (with gurtain). Not many toiletry are supplied.

Great airport hotel ”

perfect hotel if you need one at the airport. The hotel has an aviation theme which I love and I always choose a room high up facing the airport. Rooms are average in size, well equipped and beds are comfy. Bathroom is open to the room but can be closed off with a curtain. All in all great hotel is one needs to be at the airport

A very Modern Hotel”

Our room was on the highest floor very quiet and comfortable. Their Laundry service was fast and good! THeir breakfast spread was not fantastic with limited choices but overall the experience was good. A safe and comfortable place to chill n relax by the pool.

Memorable”

Protea exceeded our expectations. The hotel is more than what we saw on traveller's photos. The ambience of the hotel was awesome. The design is unique and the food was delicious and affordable. More importantly, we love the room! We had a good rest in the comfy bed.

Fantastic hotel with awesome food”

from the moment i arrived at the hotel, the service was brilliant, smiles and jokes all the way. the room was funky clean and everything worked. the dinner buffet was amazing, cheap and plenty and so tasty. the service in the restaurant was awesome and the next day when i left, everything was still great and friendly.

Great hotel and fantastic location”

We arrived at the hotel and were welcomed with a big warm smile from the porter who was very helpful. The front office staff gave us the same warm welcome with the big smile. They were very helpful in giving us a quiet room. The room itself was not very big but had all the comfort you require after a 16 hr flight. The beds were great . Shower had the raindrop fall . Wonderful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We had dinner which was great and they also have a good wine list. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. They offered a wide choice.. and if it was not there they would prepare it for you . The theme of the restaurant was' the warehouse' and I must say they have done it well. We had a wonderful stay there and would highly recommend it.

Airport convenience”

The hotel is less than 1km from hte airport. But also it sits next to a highway. Consequently the rooms facing airport and highway are very noisy. Opt for the backside of the hotel. Location is convenient, however it is more or less in 'little nigeria'! Meaning going out for dinner at night might be an adventure on its own. If you want to avoid this adventure you would have to stick with the hotel's restaurant

Excellent for an airport hotel”

We were pleasantly surprised by the Protea Hotel OR Tambo. Regular shuttles to and from the airport with only a 5min transit time. The hotel has a pool and gym which are useful when you're waiting for a flight. The food was expensive and the rooms were not as sound proof as I would have hoped for an airport hotel, but I would definitely still stay there again!

Transit Hotel”

Comment; The hotel and room where good for an overnight stay. The service was below average, this happend with me during my stay; When I checked in I got a room number but could not enter the room they give me the wrong room number. It took one hour before I got my simple food in the restaurant. I asked for a wake-up call at 05.00hrs, did not got any call. They put the wrong room number on the list and the people in the other room where not happy with the early call.

Clean and convenient”

I stayed there for 2 nights coz waiting for my friends, i didnt go out at all, so spent 2 entire days and nights there. Hotel is very close to the airport, free shuttle is every 30 mins,just a 10 mins ride. Hotel is not big, only one restaurant. so I feel bored after two meals. Staffs r pretty nice. Nice room, good room size, clean. Only problem is the sound proof problem.

Close to airport”

For an airport hotel, Protea Hotel OR Tambo fared well in my book. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and service. For the amount of money paid for the room, I felt it was worth every cent. It might be a 5 mins drive away from work, but it is definitely not a problem with the shuttle bus provided between 6am to 11pm.
