Coonoor hotels & places to stay

The hotel is located between the 5th and 4th hairpin bend on the coonoor mettupalayam road. The location is absolutely brilliant. The cottages are very tastefully furnished and the bathrooms are very good with windows having a good view of nature. The tea maker is provided in the rooms and the welcome drink and the fruit basket in the night are good gestures. The swimming pool is very well maintained and the games room is good. The food variety and quality at the buffet is quite good . The only draw back of the hotel is the climb up and down which the elderly might find a bit tough. Also location is far away from attratcions. But overall a brilliant hotel for a nice quiet vacation close to nature if that is what you are looking for.

The property is situated on a cliff or edge of the mountain and overlooks tea estate on all sides! As the property is on higher ground, the downward sloping tea estate views are nothing short of fantastic. The staff, hotel/homestay facilities, food and restaurant, are all very very good. My mother tongue is Hindi and in my experience I never found people in Tamil Nadu comfortable in conversing in Hindi (Of course. It is not their mother tongue and I am not complaining). However, staff at this property were able to speak very well Hindi. Of course this is not even a consideration, but I was pleasantly surprised. You should know that I have not traveled much in TN, so much observation may be completely off! If I were to nitpick, I would say there is scope to improve room service. They charge 25% extra on the total bill (starters excluded) if you order room service! To me, this is way too high. Due to less servicemen and a restaurant with great view, I think they want to encourage people to come out of their rooms and eat in the restaurant after finishing starters in their rooms (with drinks maybe/of course). Regardless, sometimes you may want to eat in the comfort of your room and I think this option should not cost 25% more! Tip - the approach to the property is rather modest. I was skeptical while I was finding my way through the small alleys of a village in Coonoor. It is 2-2.5 kms (approx) from the main coonoor cross road. However, once you reach the location, you will see how beautiful it is!

I had booked a Delux Room for my family. Since it was in the common area with the other Two rooms occupied by bachelors they upgraded me to a Suit which was actually double the cost. They did not charge me anything extra for this upgrade. This place has got amazing staff who are very quick and courteous. The Manager a lady was very good. The location is apt for a family which wants a very serene place to relax with a beautiful place, great well maintained British era bungalows, yet not very far away from places to visit and market area. The place is very close to Wellington, Sims Park and many other popular attractions. The restaurant is good with very testy Continental & North Indian food though on a slightly higher side. Overall a fabulous experience and i wish to visit them again. A must in Coonoor!

This is the best place in Coonoor, hands down! everything is perfect from hospitality, service, rooms, and absolutely amazing views (got some wonderful snaps for Instagram)! We took the chamomile room which overlooked the beautiful tea gardens. The food was delicious, we dint want to even try eating at another restaurant- it was so good. They prepare everything fresh, you have to order and give them about an hour to prepare it. Extremely hospitable and polite staff. We couldn't pick out even one thing that undermined any of the above.

Pros- Location was too good , nature lovers will like this place . Staffs were too friendly , any possible request they can do for you. One natural waterfall is there inside the property itself and we can take bath . Food was good, they charged 300 per meal apart from free breakfast. Cons: Since this place is very remote, mobile tower are not reachable most of the time . Very less activities to entertain the guest. Stay would have been better with dedicated recreation room, swimming pool, outdoor play area for badminton, and other games, etc.

A very warm welcome with garlands and a unique spicy tea,set the tone for what was to become a truly enjoyable stay at the gateway,Coonoor.Check in was a breeze and they had our room ready before our arrival. We booked the executive rooms which had 3 rooms on different levels and were garden facing.rooms have garden views but the property has amazing views of the mountains and valleys from different points around the property. Room service and housekeeping are extremely prompt with whatever you need and every staff member on the property is extremely warm and helpful. We tried both the buffet and A la carte and every meal was delicious.Must try the local Bagada cuisine. Breakfast buffet has good variety and healthy options as well. All in all , a very warm and pleasurable stay,we would recommend highly and definitely return whenever we come to Coonoor next !!

Hi Orchid Square Coonor is a hotel with excellent staff, good quality rooms and pretty decent food. The big downer is the location. It is situated in a really busy intersection and is bustling with taxis and tourist buses. Not what you are looking for when you go to a hill station. This gives a feel of staying at a city centre location. Not all recommended if you are looking for some scenic views and some peace and quiet.
