Paradise in Udaipur ”
It was fantastic as I was in Udaipur to celebrate my Wife's birthday and I was looking for royal place to stay and celebrate... Fateh Prakash Palace was the perfect place as per my requirements... Fantastic place for stay..... Excellent view.... Awesome and tasty food @ Sunset Terrace ... Staff was great and very much supportive...They have arranged the Birthday cake @ 12am...and it was great.. Sharp 12 am they were outside of my suite (Room) with a bunch of flowers... Excellent service by each staff... Shambu Singhji , Ritika, Suresh, Ram Singh Ji and all other staffs... Thanks to everyone for making such memorable moment.. Must recommend Palace with Royal Treatment..

we really have a nice stay in fateh prakash palace hotel.the hotel is a part of the city palace complex.the hotel settles in the lakeside and has nice view of the lake in dovecote.the staffs are very kind and helpful.

Good Experience”
The hotel is inside the City Palace complex, so you actually live like a Maharaja for a couple of days, which is great. The view from our room was straight to Lake Pichola and it was very nice and romantic. Being inside the palace complex is great if you want to visit the palace museum, like we did, but I don't get to blend with the city people unless you go outside the palace, if that interests you. If they offer you golf carts when you want to go outside the hotel, don't take them, it's just a few minutes walk to the museum or outside the palace. Breakfast costs a lot of money and it's not inside the hotel (we didn't take it).

what an experience”
the view from the room is worth every dollar:)) the old palace turned into a hotel (into the city palace compound) has the best location along the lake just in front of the lake palace. the rooms are in antique indian style and very charming. the restaurant is very good and the view for diner is fantastic. the view from the room in the morning is breathtaking, really worth it if you cant afford the lake palace;)

Incredible view and service!”
Our stay was wonderful. We had a charming room overlooking the lake. Every morning a grand and delicious breakfast and freshly squeeze juice, the view of the lake is amazing, and very friendly staff, the palace visit is a must! and pay a bit extra to be able to take pictures with your camera inside the palace.

Great location but not 5 star for relevant reasons”
We arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon after a very tiring road trip and it was great that the hotel gave us an upgrade to the premium suite. The room was an odd shape but very comfortable just wish the windows were a bit bigger for the amazing view of the lake that we had. The hotel is not a 5-star by your typical brand hotel standard but it never will be and should not be expected to because after all it is within a very old palace that you can only do so much to without losing the original charm of living in a palace. The best thing of the hotel is the location which is great when you have 2 small kids with you. We would stay here again but would try to book earlier to get a better price. The only other hotel we checked out was the Oberoi Udaivillas which was beautiful and although across the lake has its own boat to take you to the city palace and other attractions… but again over-priced for what it delivers. We joined the Xmas dinner (no choice to opt out) and that was mediocre at best but clearly the hotel was trying to make it special which given that some things are hard to come by in India it is what it is.

Very beautiful rooms with excellent view”
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spendid with view on lake Pichola. With the security pass, guests habe all day/night access to the city palace area and can take a convenient shortcut to the city centre. Guests have also access to the very nice pool and spa-facilities of the Shiv Nivas Palace Hotel. Room service not quite up to the job (forgot part of the order but charged it nontheless on the final check, which we noticed only after departure). Internet is very slow and inconenient, since you have to obtain a new 16-digit code every day at the reception.

A heritage property hotel has its own charm. Loved the lake facing dovecote room. Please make sure to communicate to provide lake facing rooms only while booking as the other courtyard facing rooms will fail to give you equally rich experience.

Ecstatic stay!! ”
The place is worth the money both for the heitage feel as well as the proximity to all major tourist attractions. We upgraded to premium suite thus making our stay even more memorable. The rooms are spacious, bright, great interior with cleanliness all around the hotel. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The food is deliolcious as well. I would highly recommend this hotel in Udaipur.

Best position in Uidapur”
We stayed in a suite on top floor, which was huge and beautifully presented, with modern finishes in Bathroom, bed and sitting rooms. Rest of hotel is in traditional furnishings, and the sun terrace restaurant whilst a bit basic in presentation has a brilliant position with the palace on one side and the Lake with Lake Palace on the other..great spot at sunset as sun sets over the lake

Run down and tired”
The only positive thing about this hotel is the view of the lake and lake palace. The hotel is really tired, run down and is in need of some updates. The toilet didn't flush in our room. We asked them to fix it twice and they said they did but it still didn't flush. We then asked to be moved to another room but toilets also didn't flush in that room. Thankfully we'd already gotten over our bout of "Delhi Belly" before arriving in Udaipur. The restaurant has a nice view of the lake but I thought it was expensive for what you get. The roast chicken was nice. The staff weren't particularly helpful. They weren't rude it just seemed like they didn't know how to run a hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Need to check the room before check in”
Palace is awesome. But u need to check the room before check in. . I had booked Dovecote room .. one month before check in.. hoteliers pics on website didn't match wid the room. . If u book a Dovecote room ask for double window lake view before check in,which in most cases given to foreigners. ..there is a discrimination between foreigners n Indians service wise. While rest is good location is excellent view is beautiful..palace is well maintained.

Beautiful location but in need of renovation”
We had 2 nights at the palace. The location is great and allows you easy access to the city palace, boat trip, crystal museum etc. The sunset from the restaurant was amazing and the food was good indian and Asian. The room and the hotel itself is in major need of an upgrade, which they do seem to be starting. The shower and fan was only just holding together and the towels were threadbare. We also had a mouse come to visit overnight in our room when a cupcake was left out. The staff however were very nice and gave us a bed for our child without having to pay, although some of their advice was actually incorrect.

Do not expect 5 star experience!”
This hotel fails to fulfil its 5 star status. It is reminiscent of a standard chain style 4 star hotel. We were very deceived when booking as the photographs seemed to indicate that all premier dovecote suite rooms had a view over the lake. This is sadly not the case and there is no differentiation between a room with a view over a courtyard and another with a view over the lake. This cannot hold the same value! Always obtain some assurance from the hotel about what you are booking before you pay!

Great location but inadequate service”
The hotel itself is beautiful and well located. Some others have commented on the small rooms but I chose a dovecote room and knew it would be small. It was nicely done up. However, I was highly disappointed in the service. I asked for dinner reservations on Friday morning for Saturday night and they were never made until Saturday evening, when the restaurant I wanted was already fully booked. In addition, I felt the services they booked for me (a half day city tour, taxis) were extremely over priced.

Poor Value”
Our stay at Fateh bPratash Palace was very disappointing. We were paying close to $500 a night and given a 3 star room. It was rather grubby, small with a substandard bathroom. The wood was rotting in the bathroom. We were upgraded to a nicer room In a better part of the hotel. The pool is about 500 metres away thru public access. There is tipping policy at the hotel where the baggage handlers wil not move unless money is given. The food in the restaurant is inconsistent & the heater was turned off at night next to us. I think they wanted s to go to bed! It is not part of a hotel chain such as the Taj or Oberoi so poor management & allocation of substandard rooms to guests spoils the whole holiday experience.
