Gallus hotels & places to stay

A new mid-range hotel which sprung up in the Gallus area of Frankfurt. This area was a dump and became gentrified in the last ten years or so, and is fast becoming arguably the most expensive area of the city. The hotel is about 15 mins walk from the Hauptbahnhof. It is quiet and comfortable, which friendly and helpful staff. The apartment room I had was reasonably clean overall, but there were biscuit crumbs in the lounge. The kitchen was well equiped, and the bedroom quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet meal, with a wide choice. All in all, an excellent hotel at a reasonable price.

The hotel is really nice. Although the room is quite small, it has elevator and clean bathroom. Location is great, it is next to the Gallus Warte st. , only 1 station to Frankfurt Hbf. If you are in a business trip and has to go Messe you can walk to Messe which takes 20 minutes or take the train, which is only 1 station away. In surrounding areas, it is quite easy to find restaurants with reasonable price and quite good taste. You can also walk to the Skyline Mall.

Traveled to Frankfurt for business and found WELCOME-- a simple, clean, and reasonably priced hotel within brief walking distance of the Frankfurt Messe. I arrived from the airport at 10 AM after an overnight flight, and even though check-in isn't officially until 2 PM, the front desk attendant was kind enough to let me check in early and get some rest to start adjusting to the local time zone. Restaurant VIEW inside the hotel is quite tasty as well.

I am very happy with my stay in this hotel. The staff event help us to print out air tickets. Breakfast charging euro 10, but not its just a standard German breakfast. Suggestion for adding some variety of international breakfast will worth euro 10. Suggestion to add a room as luggage room will be more appropriate than putting our luggage at the reception. The hotel also prepare a shoe polisher for the convenience of biz tenants. Exterior look like 2 star to me, but the room is like 4 star, which surprise me. The bathroom have the tower heater to make sure the tower dries before second using. Suggestion to install lights inside the wardrobe ores, it's a bit too dark. It's only 2 stop away for tramp to central station. Walking distance to skyline plaza shopping center. Very convenient.

We stayed here as part of a group. However if I was travelling individually I would not have booked this hotel because of the exhorbitant cost of wifi. In most hotels charging for wifi is a thing of the past and this hotel group should change their policy. Until they do I will not stop at one of their hotels again, which is a shame as the overall experience of this hotel was excellent. Freedom to use wifi is a modern day must!

During the high season when just everything else around the center of the city is unavailable except with triple prices, this hotel maintains some competitive price level. You shouldn't expect much from them, though. Rooms are really tiny, and almost clean - though just barely so, as the hotel isn't much on quality of regular cleaning. Bathroom is just barely adequate - lack of shower curtain makes everything wet, and lighting is particularly inconvenient for shaving (the latter is annoying as it should take just some planning and minimal effort/costs to replace the lamps with frosted glass options). Location is quite workable with - it's quiet, and within just a 4-5 minutes walk from the 11/21 line tram station at Mönchhofstrasse. While it's not very convenient for transit to the Messe area, it's rather close by tram to the Hauptbahnhof and Galluswarte S-Bahn stations - and thus reasonably fast transit to just anywhere, including the Messe area, is more or less assured. One aspect of their Schmidtstrasse location is that it's often unfamiliar to taxi drivers - so that some explanations are helpful (like "Schmidtstrasse in Gallus behind the Ferrari and Maserati shops") to prevent occasional mistakes by drivers. Breakfast - quite satisfactory, as it's rather standard for most German hotels. Wireless Internet - somewhat slow but stable, no complaints in this regard. Service and staff - reasonably satisfactory and helpful. There are some limitations like inability to arrange late checkout - but with German hotels some things just aren't available.

My stay was really relaxing, the hotel was more then a basic hotel, it has a cafe and bar, kitchenette where you can cook your own food and a laundry to use to wash and dry your own clothes! The hotel is new and located in an upcoming commercial/residential area and is close to the train and bus stations. The hotel even provides cheap bicycle hire! My room was very close to the train line, and I could not hear the trains at all. The wifi is free and fast and works in the bedrooms. The hotel 'vibe' is very friendly, with many guests using the cafe and outdoor seating areas together and socialising together. The hotel has lifts for easy access to all levels, with free secured luggage storage area. It is about a 10 minute brisk walk to city centre, but public transport is easy to access. Oh yeah, and there's plenty of free parking around hotel should you decide to use your own car....and it's not near the red light district.

Pros: 1. The price (~46€ for night) for this hotel was great. 2. The room was clean when we arrived. 3.the location was good. We liked the area - the park was close, it was clean and feel safe at night. 4. The breakfast was excellent, the stuff always checked the presence of food. Cons: 1. We’ve stayed here for three days and two nights - nobody cleaned the room during our stay. Cleaning stuff knocked at the door and suggested to clean everyday only at ~ 8 am. For us it was early because we woke up only at 8:30 am. 2. The hotel is about 20 min by walk from tramways and 50 min from metro station.

This Hotel is great , it's only 2 stops from the main station , also it's a walking distance from many historical places , restaurants and groceries. They provide a refrigerator which is very helpful specially if you have kids, service was great and very helpful , the only thing we didn't like is not having A/C and it was a little bit hot , but they provided a fan upon our request .

I had booked the room for 2 days, but since I reached at 10 am, they could not accomodate me in because the check-in time is 3 pm. As I had a Heidelberg half-day trip scheduled, I could only check-in when I returned at around 9 pm. The room was great, comfortable beds and quiet, clean and cozy. The view ahead was of the Skyline Plaza and that, I realized, was just a stone's throw from Messe and so very, very convenient. The complementary water and coffee makes all the difference, made it all feel so nice and homely. Next day I needed a taxi at 3.30 am and the front desk guy was great in arranging for one. All in all, a great experience at the Citadines!
