Great hotel, great location”
i really enjoyed my stay at the jingu hotel. the room and bathroom were both very clean and everything worked. maid, staff and laundry service was excellent. the restaurant in the hotel was also excellent and was as good as some of the restaurants in town that were recommended to me by local friends. the breakfast buffet was really good and offered a wide variety of both western and chinese fare; everything from shrimp, chinese soups and noodles to fried eggs and bacon. i ate there every morning of my 7 day stay. the breakfast was not included in my booking but was very reasonable. when i checked in they asked for a deposit. i later learned the deposit was used to cover the cost of the breakfast buffet and a laundry charge which was ok with me. location in the daoli district is nice. i enjoyed taking walks along the songhua river in the morning and the jingu is very close to the river. i was there in april so i cannot speak to the its convenience during the ice lantern festival. i am planning another trip to harbin in august of this year (2011) and i look forward to staying at the jingu again. when you find a hotel this good, why change.

Great location, modern hotel”
I visited with a friend and we went to Harbin to visit the Ice and Snow Exhibition. The location of the hotel was perfect to see the Ice Lantern display in Zhaolin Park (1 block/2 minute walk). We took a taxi to the main Ice and Snow Exhibitions and it was probably around 10 minutes away. It was easy to catch taxis due to the location and the hotel was also very well known by taxi services. We had looked at staying at the Shangri-La due to its proximity to the exhibitions but having passed it and seen where it was, glad we chose Jingu. You still have to taxi from either hotel and Jingu was in a far nicer area to walk around. As the hotel was on Zhongyang Daijie Central which is the central walking street in Harbin, it is a picturesque area as it looks it has quite some history with it's cobblestoned streets. This was good to walk around the shops and see the other single sculptures throughout the area. There was usually only 1 person on staff that could speak english but this was ok, we all managed. The breakfast was ok - keep in mind you are in northern China. The tip from a previous visitor about the nearby Russia Coffee & Food House was spot on. It was just across the sqaure from the hotel so convenient and we loved the food and the service.

Very, very nice hotel, central to everything ”
This is a great hotel, especially considering the price compared to other equivalent hotels in Harbin. I can't say enough about the front desk manager who upgraded us to a nicer room when they could not provide a non-smoking standard room at check-in...very nice lady. The Cantonese-style restaurant serves great food. And, the buffet breakfast is very good also. The location is perfect, located right on the pedestrian street in Harbin. My only complaint is that you can't control the heating in the guest rooms during winter. Evidently it is centrally controlled and was way too hot for my liking...hovered right around 25C during the entire 3-day stay. My only choice to cool the room down was to open the window. But, when it is windy and -25C outside in January at night, that does not give you much control over the heat...you either bake or freeze. As a 4-star hotel they really should give a guest some control over the temperature in a room. But, taking all into consideration, I would stay there again.

Perfect location, roomy suite”
jingu is perfectly situated on the pedestrian street in central harbin. i would highly reccommend the hotel, but be aware that there is little or no english spoken here, or anywhere in harbin. you must be prepared to not have anyone understand you. if you want english, you will need to go to an american chain hotel, and there is still no guarantee.

Excellent location, staff and restaurant”
Jingu is steps away from Songhua river, where many ice activities are available or you may walk to cross the frozen river to the Sun Island. It's also steps away from Zhaolin Park where you can see ice sculpture. Jingu has two excellent restaurants that offer high end authentic Chinese dishes. The buffet breakfast is so good. Lots of dishes including seafood. As hotel guest, we paid half price ~6USD per person. Best value you can find anywhere in the world. Hotel staffs were very polite and helpful. Our flight was delayed so we missed the first night. According to the booking policy, this night can not be cancelled or refunded. But they offerred to take the charge off of my bill. I was very grateful.

Beautiful hotel, great service & breakfast buffet”
The staff welcomes you as if you are family. They greet you with a smile and make sure that your check-in is less than 5 minutes. The rooms are clean and well appointed and they turn down your bed in the evening. If you have any requests they do their best to meet them. I enjoyed my stay at the Jingu Hotel and reccomend this hotel.

Comfortable rooms in a great location”
We came to Harbin for the ice festival and found the location of Jingu hotel ideal for all the activities we wanted to do. It's less than a five minute walk to Zhaolin park for the ice sculptures and just around the corner from the #29 bus terminus which goes directly to Sun island park for the snow sculptures and to the ice and snow world main event. The rooms were modern with nice decor and very comfortable. We booked a business room with a special request for Non smoking and a double bed. When we arrived the hotel advised us that they only had smoking double rooms available or non-smoking twin rooms. We chose the smoking room with double bed and found it to be completely fine. We tried the free hotel breakfast but found it quite terrible and would prefer to leave the hotel for breakfast next time as there are many good cafe's and eateries near by. We also found the concierge to be not very helpful or knowledgable and we had to rely on research we had done before coming to Harbin to get around. That aside, we will definitely be staying here again next time we come to Harbin.

Jingu Hotel Harbin: ”
Like any chinese city, Harbin can be a bit daunting upon arrival: huge and grey. But it does have one nice pedestrian street, busy and popular with countless shops and resaturants in the historic buildings that line the street. And ONE hotel from which you can walk out into the pedestrian area, the Jingu. It is like a cheaper version of the Hong Kong Peninsula: one historic building in front and a more modern tower with (most of) the rooms in the back. Part of the rooms are renovated - mine was - with good internet, a nice shower/bath. TV is Chinese only and of all the channels, one had horrible sound: CCTV9, the English language channel... Nice messy Chinese breakfast, nice staff. To be recommended,

Friendly staff and great location”
Jin Gu Da Sha is located on the main shopping street in Harbin. There are many shops and restaurants, as well as available taxis. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, and an excellent breakfast buffet with both western and Chinese food is provided. My only complaint is that the wireless internet was very weak and I did not see an ethernet connection in the room. This did not pose a problem in the end because the staff helped us plan our itinerary.

Great location and Modern clean rooms”
chose jingu based on the location and the price. was a great choice as the rooms were very good size, clean and very modern. the location is perfect and the staff were very friendly. the only negative is the breakfast buffet, which was not great. but apart from this, it was a perfect place to stay.

Excelent location and very nice room”
Our first trip to Harbin. We arrived at 12 midnight. I found that the hotel room is quite big, clean and nice. In the morning I also found out the location excelent, near shop and restaurant. We were satisfied with this hotel. I will recommend this hotel when you're going to Harbin.

Central location, chinese breakfast”
The location of the JinGu hotel is central, directly in the Pedestrian Street in Harbin and this is a big plus! The Business room in the 13th floor was clean and very warm. In the breakfast area was a lot of hectic. Either we could not find a table or we didn’t get the plates and cutleries. There was a wide range of Chinese food and only little selection of European dishes. The food quality was average. Overall, it was a good stay.

Great location, nice rooms, ok amenities”
The hotel is in a very good location for seeing the city and to use as a base for adventures further afield. We walked to restaurants and shopping in the general area. The rooms are nice and modern and a good deal especially considering the Shangri-La was twice as much for a similar room (suite). While not luxurious we had everything we needed for a nice weekend in Harbin. The front desk staff did not speak very much English so it was helpful that one of our companions spoke Mandarin. Without that I am sure we would have gotten by, but with a lot more hand gestures and furrowed brows. The biggest drawback of the hotel is how hot it was in the rooms. The room was heated to 28 celcius and though it may have been almost 50 degrees colder outside, it was way more than was comfortable for me and my companions. I had to crack a window and even then couldn't bring down the temperature enough to be comfortable. I would stay there again but hope that the heat in the rooms wouldn't be a problem.

very good location and reasonably good value”
My stay at this hotel was fine overall. The location is great - access to places to eat and shopping and the pedestrian walk way. For the most part, very little English is spoken in Harbin and this hotel is no exception. The one problem I had is that I stayed at this hotel in January during the dead of winter, and the heating is centrally controlled and it was impossible to reduce the heat in the room. The temperature outside was way below zero but it was so warm in our room we had to keep opening the windows to get some cool air.

Perfect hotel for ice sculptures in Harbin”
This hotel was perfect for our trip and we would highly recommend it. We booked a business room, so our recommendation is based on that. Although there are cheaper alternatives - it beats its more expensive counterparts on location alone! It's one block from the Disney ice sculpture park, on the main pedestrian street with old architecture, 2 to 3 blocks from the river with ice rinks, within walking distance of the gondola (take it accross and walk 5 minutes to Sun Island snow park). Only 20RMB (15 mins) for a taxi to the main ice sculptures at the Harbin Ice and Snow exhibition. The people were very friendly, it has a great cantonese restaurant inside on the ground floor and just opposite is the Russian Cafe for some Russian snacks/food. The hotel was comfortable, clean, the room extremely well appointed (for normal Chinese business hotel standards).

Nice hotel”
this is a nice modern hotel. It is on the walking street and has lots of shops and restaurants nearby. It is also very close to the river and you can walk there to watch the shows at night. The rooms are clean and standard size. If you go to Harbin, remember that the taxi may be a problem because it is hard to find a empty one.

Good location on walking street”
The Harbin Jingu is a fairly typical large hotel the staff are efficient and professional with some speaking English. The hotel is well located at one end of the central walking street so there are plenty of restuarants in an easy walk. The room was a decent size, clean and warm. The breakfast was adequate and obviously aimed at Chinese rather than international guests.

Great location, slightly overpriced, no bar”
This is a big Chinese-style hotel. Amazing location right on the pedestrian street. We stayed 2 nights to visit the Ice festival, so of course the price was inflated for what you get - but that's expected all over town during the festival. Although Agoda says there is a bar, and even in their ELEVATOR it says "Lobby Bar" - there is no Bar in this hotel, just a tea/coffee shop! So be aware if you were hoping for a beer in the evening. (Although you can buy a beer at their chinese restaurant with dinner, which was very tasty food.) Breakfast was not included in our room but available at 48CNY per person which we thought was a good deal given the large selection (mainly Chinese food - but very tasty!) Bad coffee, as you'd expect :) Very little English spoken, esp in the restaurant - have Google Translate ready! Rooms were fine, clean, a bit noisy in the hallway, but overall the location and breakfast made it worth staying here, and I would stay there again.

Harbin ice Festival -Amazing”
Trip to see the spectacular Harbin Ice Festival - something everyone should see once. The hotel is in a great location and rooms are good, only two little improvements would be (I) breakfast which was the usual Chinese hotel fare and chaos and (ii) with t being -30 degrees outside the hotel and rooms were very warm, so much so that we had to open the window at night to make it cooler to sleep
