Excellent value for money”
Hotel Buddha caters mainly for Indian clientele, but, as Europeans, we had an excellent stay there too. To Western standards the hotel may seem basic but the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. We had a pefectly adequate twin-bed room with a little balcony even. It was quiet, the air-conditioning worked and although a shower curtain would have kept the bathroom floor dry after a shower, we were very comfortable. There was only flourescent lighting on the ceiling whereas bedside lamps would have made the room seem cosier, but everything worked and was clean. The hotel is perfectly situated in a quiet square, not far from the town centre and is a 30 minute walk to the main ghat. You can take a rickshaw but we enjoyed the walk as you can stop, browse in the shops, eat ice cream or drink freshly squeezed orange juice along the way. The breakfast was simple but you could ask to have your eggs cooked anyway you liked, and there was a choice of Indian food too. We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner once where the food was good but basic. There's a great restaurant around the corner called Sri Annapurna which has excellent food and is quite cheap. It was full of locals - always a good sign. We liked it so much we ate there twice. One of the days we booked a trip with Gopal, the tour guide, and at 2700 IR for the day including a car and driver, it was well worth. He showed us around the main Hindu and Buddhist sites, and his obvious love of the city was infectious. At sunset he arranged for us to go on a boat trip up the Ganges to see the cremations and then back for Arti, Hindu evening prayers, which was a spiritual and magical experience, and I'm an atheist! Altogether, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It homely, basic but comfortable, and the staff cannot be faulted. Excellent value, quiet location, very friendly. There's even free wifi in the rooms. What more do you want?

Faultless service and rooms.. we reviewed previously and stayed here again for another 4 faultless days and nights! Great wifi, rooms, service etc. etc. For us better than the hassle/smell of the Ghat area...... and just a 25min walk or 10min trikeshaw....Enjoy!! Thanks Hotel Buddha

Authentic, clean and comfortable ”
Authentically Indian hotel, very clean and comfortable. Delicious Indian and Western food. Noisy on one side, quieter on the other side. Warm atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. Felt well taken care of by Rakesh the waiter who was very sweet. Because this city is like a labyrinth without sidewalks, and because this was our first visit in India, it was helpful to have the in-hotel travel guide, Yadab. He made good suggestions as to where to visit, helped us get a SIM card, really knew his way around, which was not only helpful in Varanasi but also in Allahabad, some 130 kilometres away. Wifi was intermittent, sometimes strong, sometimes weak. Safety box and modern plugs with built in adaptors were appreciated. Renovated bathroom was nice.

Good Hotel with smiling service”
I am a Buddist. That's good to stayed at Hotel Buddha. Anyway, the owner of Hotel Buddha believe in Hindu. Go and back from the hotel to Sarnath where the Buddha taught his first sermon to 5 followers by taxi cost approx. 400 rupees in the 3 hours tour. From the hotel to Ganga River by rikshaw one way cost approx. 40 rupees. I like the different kind of Indian-foods that provided by the hotel. I am impressive with the cleanliness and big new airport of Varanasi Airport.

Clean and pleasant hotel”
As some of us know, it is hard to find a clean lovely hotel in India.... Hotel Buddha was very nice. a bit away from the old town and all the 'crazyness' but about 10 min tuk-tuk ride takes you righ where you need to be. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Computers are bit old and internet was slow but it's ok. no warm water late at night but that's how it is in India. the food was good. I would stay there again

Nice hotel, good location”
Very friendly staff . Very decent hotel for the price. Far from the din and the dung of Varanasi, but a doable walk or short rickshaw to the action at the river. Simple but tasty Indian breakfast with fresh bananas. Safety deposit box at reception. Decent wi-fi speed.

Top Hotel, Top Staff, Top Room!”
we stayed 2 nights here paid.50ukp for double ac room b&b. had tv with 199 channels. booked agoda and emails were great. check-in smooth and professional - hotel 580rp from airport by fixed price taxi - security guy/concierge was a star. room spacious with sparklingly clean bathroom (unusual in india!!) and coooooool ac and loads of space. clean sheets/towels and cleaned room (properly) daily. breakfast was indian buffet - tasty and with some variety. meals and drinks were fine in the clean restaurant. staff helpful not pushy. near to trikes/tuktuks for ghats etc.. (40-50rp) and 10 mins. fast reliable wifi for free too. tour guy was helpful and not pushy either. great quiet nights sleep. cannot fault for a midrange hotel.a really nice stay - highly recommended! p.s ghats are ok (and cheap/easy) to visit - but staying there has many issues......

Great alternative to the Ghats”
Though it's a little far from the ghats, I preferred to stay in this area because it's more quite and cleaner. Had the feeling that all the hotels and guesthouses at the ghats are run down a little. Also coz the ghats are super smelly and dirty. Buddha hotel was like a little oasis compared to that. It will take you 20-30 min walk to the main ghat or just take a rickshaw for 30-50 r. and you ll be there in 10 min. Also the ride itself is great fun. The rooms are super clean and well designed, the breakfast - great! Would definitely stay here again. Just beware of the taxi staff - they will try to show you their "factory and showroom" where you can buy stuff cheaper. Well, but who doesn't try to show you those in India ...

Very nice and clean hotel”
I choose this hotel from its location near the train station, even far from the river but situated near the quiet park and easy to travel. The room is very clean, large bed and area with balcony, toilet is very clean and large. Wifi has a satisfied speed. The price is rather higher from those besided the river but now considering easier to reach, clean with big room, nice staffs. (Some besided the river had problem with monkeys "on the rooftop view" and some ghats are cremation sites). I had to catch the 2 AM train, the staff kindly contact the rickshaw driver who reach on time.

Good Place to Stay”
Great place to stay, unless you go to varanasi in summer. A/C was not working during power-cuts in daytime. But, the hotel provided power to A/C on generator during the night time 10pm to morning. Staff were helpful and kind. Food was great. It would have been great if they could provide at least a air cooler in the dining area, during the day. Otherwise a good hotel to stay in.

Best staff ever”
It's been 3 months since my friends and I stayed at the Hotel Buddha, but I will remember it for the rest of my life. While the hotel itself is a bit remote (read: a bit of a trek to the ghats), the hotel staff and the modest amenities within made it a worthwhile choice. This is a place to stay if you want a spot of peace in the madness that is Varanasi. Their addictive chai and quiet rooftop garden were our refuge on more than one occasion. Their staff is warm, friendly, accommodating, patient, helpful, kind, memorable.

smiling service hotel”
it is good to stay at this hotel. i arrived there at 8 p.m. after had dinner with the taxi driver somewhere in varanasi. it took less than half an hour to check in the hotel. anyway, this hotel has no elevator. so it is not good at all for the older person to stay at the high level. at that time, i stayed at level 4 and it was good for me to exercise by walking up and down. the hotel providing free breakfast started from 8 a.m. but i recommended you to waked up a little bit earlier.so you would not wait so long for your breakfast. let try some thing delicious from indian foods.

Attentive staff, clean room, fast Internet”
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and were very happy with it. Staff were very helpful. Whatever we asked was done properly. Hotel breakfast was quite limited but lunch or dinner from the hotel restaurant was pretty good. There is a very good restaurant called anapurna near the hotel.bit far from the Ganga but surrounding was quite so we liked more. Highly recommend the hotel.

One of Best Hotels in the area ”
Great location and great hospitality. Excellent staff. It’s a hotel with traditional atmosphere and homely ambience. Hotel management is excellent and very professional. I stayed here oftentimes and each time Me and my family are completely taken care well by the hotel staff and management. I recommend this place for other devotees and tourists who are planning to attuning kashi.

not easy to check-in but a nice stay”
We found this hotel through Agoda and there was room available when we arrived there. The manager(night shift) told us clearly that there is no room avaiable at all. Then I made a booking immediately and it was confirmed by Agoda. He just kept tell us no room for us. Then we wait and wait until another mananger came and confirmed a room for us, too obvious, don't know why they kept the empty room. This is the only one negative point and the rest is super nice, big and clean room, hot water, helpful staff, most important, the price is resonable, though not very near to the ghat, but quiet and easy to find a Autorickshaw to all sights, will go there again if go to Varanasi next time, but, remember book the room first instead of walk in!

good value”
I think you get a fair value here. The good thing is, there is nothing particularly negative to say. The room is clean enough with basic comfort and okay internet. The restaurant was better than expected, although I didn't expect much. The location is quite far to ghats due to bad road condition. The manager of the tourist bureau kept trying to sell me his overpriced tours, I got the same tour for half of his asking price. I think accomodation is difficult in Varanasi compared to e.g. Jaipur, so given that, I can recommend.

Reasonably okay stay”
The hotel still needs to go some ways to be even a three star hotel. The service of the reception desk staff was okay, not great. The restaurant, and cleaning staff were very friendly. The breakfast has a short time window (7:30-9:00 am). The day we left Varanasi the breakfast was not quite ready even at 7:30 am. On other days the restaurant staff was helpful in reminding us about breakfast and waiting beyond 9 am. We rented a car from the hotel for a ride from the railway station as well as airport and two days of site seeing. The driver, Uma Shankar, was very helpful.
