Exceptional”
East view is a typical Indian hotel and they have made great efforts to accommodate international visitors. Bedding was of hotel standard and bathrooms are clean with buckets and jugs for a good old Inian bucket bath! It is located right next to the main burning Ghat which means there are bells and chanting to be heard from dawn until late in the evening. It’s a bugger to find if you don’t have a guide as the ally ways around the river are of labarynthian proportions. That said if you contact the hotel they will send someone out for you and will carry your bags through the lanes. The staff are very helpful and curtius and food in the restaurant is simple but tasty.

Great Location right on the Ganges”
This hotel is perched right on the Ganges, a few minutes walk from Burning Ghat. You will need to walk through narrow alleys to get to the hotel. We had a nice view of the river from our room although the balcony room was too hot to use (you cannot open the windows because of the monkeys), which was a shame. The room was pleasant, a large double bed and we paid for an additional bed for one of our children. The TV, Fridge and Safe did not work (TV plug was black and Safe was locked open). The bathroom stank of 'drains' which made you gag, but that might just reflect Varanasi! On the positive side, the restaurant owner was very kind, telling us about the area, showing us the rooftop and even singing to us over breakfast. Pleasant restaurant area - air con, good view etc. So in summary, good location, authentic place to stay, nice restaurant but room not quite as listed.

Good location. Easy to find. Friendly staff. Waking up early will be usual thanks to the livestock.”
Pros: Close to the Ganges. Easy to walk to ghats during the dry season. Good food. Friendly staff. Hot water is readily available. A/C is strong. Cons: Close location will result in strong smells of unwashed animals and feces. Many people will be there trying to get you on the boats for 500rs for Ganga Aarti. Don't do it as you will not get a good view. Boats are already docked in front the ghat before the ceremony even begins. Better to walk to there and pay the sit at the boats already docked or sit at the steps for free. The hotel will be difficult to locate from the main road as the side streets are very narrow not allowing vehicles to enter. and will be difficult to navigate.

one of the best hotels GANGA RIVERSIDE”
Cons - 1O to 15 minutes walk from the main road. Only Rooftop Restaurant at 4th floor. Limited Menu. NO LIFT. Pros - best Riverview Hotel. Almost centre of 80 ghats. XLNT food. Clean & neat rooms (Renovated Heritage building). Next to Scindia ghat. If u don't mind climbing steps, take the top floor RIVER VIEW rooms.

A surprising gem ”
This hotel came as a very pleasant surprise. This recently renovated hotel retains a lot of it's 1950s character, in a building that's over 300 years old. Honestly, it looks a lot better in person than it does in the photos. We were both completely surprised by the character and charm of this hotel. The room was smaller but very cozy and quite pretty with very high ceilings. However, most sensationally about this hotel was everything was in very good working order much like the five star hotels in the area, including hot water and electricity. The best point of the hotel remains the staff, they were overly friendly and very very helpful absolutely every one of our needs or expectations was met and exceeded

East view ”
The staff are unbelievable. Extremely friendly and helpful. Location is great if you like to be near the burning ghats. It is very difficult to find as you need to take a boat to get to hotel. Taxis drop you off but there is no way to navigate the back alleys. Contact hotel to arrange pickup. Wifi is spotty. Only good at reception. No breakfast to speak of. Toast and coffee. They outdid themselves for my birthday though. It was one I'll always remember. Thank you for that.

Nice Place”
Nice place, execelent view on the river, very tasty food, good service, comfortable accomodation, clean. It’s calm also if to compare with Assi Ghat. One inconvenience is an absence of transport, everywhere by foot or by boat.

Nice place to stay”
Location is great as it is right next to the Gange and Burning Ghat but a bit hard to get too. Need to ask your way to locals in the narrow streets. Might not fit everyone but for us it was perfect! The room was amazing, clean and comfy. Staff was nice. English spoken was sometimes basic when we were there but they made lots of efforts. Still we loved it and would totally recommand it!

Excellent”
Location is great. The reception lawn area is excellent for having long meals with family. Staff is really helpful and prompt. For my parents, the 10 mins walk from Chowk Thana was a better access option, than the boat option considering the steps at scindia ghat.

Nice Hotel, Long Walk”
This is a nice small hotel located on Scindia Ghat, next to the burning ghat and Dasasvamedh Ghat. It's reasonably clean, it has great view of the Ganges, particularly from the restaurant. The food in the restaurant is outstanding. But it's a really long walk to get there: about a half hour through narrow alleyways, up stairs, down stairs, through cow shit, beggars, hawkers, etc.

Good”
Hotel is fine when you consider the location. It's right at Scindya ghats. The staff is courteous. Had practically no options for food except couple of options every day. Not sure if this was because it was complimentary. Regular room cleaning and maintenance seems to be an issue. But otherwise staff is friendly and supportive.

Not for sleeping”
The hotel location and facilities were excellent, except for two issues. The first is the long walk with luggage because of the ancient narrow streets, which is no problem if the hotel is notified when you are coming so they can have porters meet you to carry the bags. The second is a big issue: Barking dogs around the hotel prevented me from sleeping. They started about 1:00 AM and continued until dawn. The windows on the hotel are old, and let sound in very easily. I would not stay there again. Better to stay in the Cantonment area, leave bags behind and catch a ride to take you close to the river.

Very good”
should disclose that hotel located near ghat were unable to reach by car and autorickshaw Porter have to carry the laggage for 15 minutes among the narrow maze full of cow's feces.

We spent 2 nights at the Heritage Room of the said Hotel. The site of the hotel is very attracting. It looks very fine at the bank of the river Ganga.”
It is very difficult to comment whether there is any House-Keeping Department or Staff in the hotel. In fact, there is no house-keeping at all. The service of cleaning the room, changing the bed sheets and providing at least 1(one) bottle drinking water every day is very usual for such hotel. The standard of menu of the restaurant is so so. But the specific observation is that the conduct of the Staff is very satisfactory especially of Mr. Bajaj and Mr. Tapan Guha.

Nice place but apart from Aashish the staff are difficult to deal with ”
Arranged for taxi on departure, staff member took me up to Main Street but no cab ,waited 15 minutes and against hotel advice I took a Tuk Tuk to airport at less than half the price and just as quick

Too much focus on selling you additional services and not enough in insuring basic facilities”
All started ok. As usual. Warm welcome. Tour of the facilities. Possibility in choosing among 2 spacious rooms as we had decided to padd a little more to go for a heritage room with view. But quickly things started going from annoying to inacceptable 1/ we ended up never having wifi at our floor during more than a day. There was wifi at reception 4 floors down but not at our floor. "City engineers on it. Will be ok tomorrow". Of course... 2/ never got hot water in our room. 1 boy come up. 2 boys came up. It took me to loose my calm to get offered a room change which eventually offered lukewarm water 3/ before even entering our room were we already swamped with all their touristic offers which looked more expensive than in our previous hotel in Varanasi... But we signed up for the morning boat trip to watch the morning ceremony at Assi Ghat. Later during the day we were told to be down at 6AM the morning after. I found it was late and asked twice but time was confirmed. 6AM the day after I am talking to the boat driver who confirms morning ceremony is over as it started at 5AM... Epic fail... Back to bed 4/ Not even a locker which worked... after complaining at least twice I was eventually handed an emergency key which got stuck in the keyhole... When offered a new room we were told wifi problems were going to be solved... but new room was the one right next door... Obviously not the solution to our wifi issue... So we simply decided to get out of the place. We lost 1 night of our booking and never got a refund... Whatever... Better loosing 1 night than ones precious holidays in such places. Oh... we stayed at Ganpati and Anka during our stay at Varanasi and all services mentioned here above never caused any issue...

Overpriced for the level of cleanliness/position and facilities ”
Please note this is an Australian review with Australian standards , but still being mindful of what country we were in and the price range of the motel compared to other motels in a similar price bracket . After walking through filth and up filthy dirty stairs to get to this motel we were suprised when the entrance looked so nice . Well that's where it stopped. The courtyard entrance and the room was the only clean areas. The outdoor roof top tables and chairs were filthy dirty , dusty with bird or monkey poo on them every time we went to use them . The enclosed so called roof top restaurant ( that has no view) was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY with no organisation at all , we had to go get someone from downstairs every time we wanted to eat- even for breakfast which was included . After deciding the outdoor rooftop area was the pick of the bad bunch to eat at , we were faced with complaints from the grizzling waiter ( every time) because he had to walk up so many stairs . We then tried ordering room service ( because the room cleanliness wasn't too bad to eat in ) we had to ask twice to get him to agree to bring it to our room again because of the stairs . NOT OUR PROBLEM THAT THE KITCHEN IS UP SO HIGH ! The position of the motel made it difficult to get to and from any other restaurants, due to the fact it is on the wrong side of the burning ghat and it was horrible , and very intense to walk through there twice a day. The stairs leading up to the motel had so much litter , cow poo and cow and human wee on it that you could smell the stench from the courtyard of the motel. The guy running reception was very friendly and helpful to our needs but when we asked for the wi fi pass word he said the monkeys had chewed through the wires and there was no wi fi ( dispite us being able to see 4 active Treebo wifi modems on our phone . I realised then that he was not telling us the truth. So I went back down to reception and showed him our booking and that it said free wi fi and sho
