Huaqiangbei hotels & places to stay

Very nice hotel, clean and well looked after. What I think most people will appreciate about this hotel is its' location; it's right in the middle of Huaqiangbei, the electronic market of Shenzhen! Most of the staff speak english, from the bell boy to the reception staff. The only downside was the lady working in their business centre who did not speak english at all, and instead of calling in an english speaking colleaque to help, she seems more happy to send me to the reception for help! But all in all, I enjoy my stay there and I would probably go there again next time I'm in Shenzhen.

The hotel is not really in the heart of central shopping Huaqianbei shopping area,so this hotel is not ideal for shoppers or family planning to shop in Huaqiangbei malls and shops.The hotel does not have a bell desk either so any guests with heavy luggage has to do self service.The lobby is very small and very blandly decorated unbecoming for any novotel hotel,but beyond that the rooms are spacious and clean and the decor is pleasing.Toilet is spacious and absolutely fine but restricted to basic toiletries like shampoo and foam bath only.The price is very high compared to other business or family hotels in the area which are better and ideally located and equally clean in the central business/shopping area in Huaqiangbei area.Overall very pleasant stay but definetly not worth the price.

We chose this hotel as we wanted something close to Huaqiangbei where all the electronics stores are located. We also needed access to the internet and this was the only hotel in that vicinity that offered free Wi Fi. Other hotels nearby charged alot more for their rooms and extra for internet access. Near the hotel are many restaurants and there is a Seven Eleven less than a block away. We found a great street vendor about 4 blocks away (turn left as you exit the hotel)selling freshly cooked bread. The people cooking the bread looked like they were from Tibet. For only 2 Yuan each the bread was very cheap and delicious. We had a standard room and the room was simple and comfortable and had large windows so had plenty of light. We looked onto the neighbouring apartment block with people's washing hanging on their balconies, which we didn't mind, gave us an insight into apartment living in China. Also, despite being so close to neighbouring buildings there was no noise, in fact the room was very quiet. The staff were friendly and polite however only some of the managers spoke English. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good 5 star standard hotel. Convenient location in a centre near Metro (Huaqiang North station) and shopping malls. Room was very large. Staff are also fine and be able to speak good English. Be noted that you are required to deposit 1,000 RMB though which you will get back upon departure. Please also be mindful about the breakfast option when booking as there can be an option for 1 person breakfast only despite you are going there 2 persons. Additional breakfast costs 98 RMB/person/day.

Hotel is located less than 5 min walk from the closest exit of Huaqiangbei Rd MRT station. 3 min walk to closest McDonalds. Right beside the building there is a shop selling various buns for pretty cheap prices (>2rmb). The rooms with the beds are very spacious. But the ceiling height hangs a bit low, since the hotel actually takes only 1 floor of the building (3rd floor). Bathroom and shower water are ok. You also got a long desk to put stuff on. Lighting inside is all yellow except for the bathroom. Staffs don't speak english at all. So make sure you understand basic chinese. We had a problem with fire alarm goes off on the third day stay. We suppose it because there is someone smoking because since the first day we had smell smoke every night. Overall, if you're in Shenzhen solely to shop, here is an ok place to stay because the distance to shops and MRT is very close. Just expect 2 stars hotel service.

Stayed at this hotel for numerous time. Seen the condition from good to just satisfactory but finally they had done some refurbishment to it. Now the room are very clean and comfortable again. Looks nicer too with the new wallpaper and carpet. As of this review, i think all levels are refurbished including the dim walkway to the rooms. Its now bright and clean with bright colored carpets. The front lobby still looks the same though; not sure they will be renovating it later. Well as long the rooms are clean that's sufficient for me. Location is very good with the Huaqiangbei Metro just a few mins away. Will definitely be booking this very reasonable priced hotel for my next business trip.

arrived at the hotel fuhua and were checked in with no problem s at all. a non-smoking room was surprisingly spacious clean, well maintained, clean bathroom/showers. not much english speaking channels on the flat screen tv (hey we're in china). the staff are all helpful though only 2 or 3 on the desk actually able to communicate well in english though this was never a problem. the business desk to the far left of the main desk was where i went to get advice regarding taxis, calls,shopping etc. out the main doors and to the left are several streets full of shops selling (literally everything) but be warned communication is definately an issue. this meant we mainly ate in chain restaurants as they had menus and english speaking staff. never got round to trying the hotel restaurant so can't comment. the famous electronics market is a 15 minute walk from the hotel and was one of the reasons we choose this hotel. free internet access in the lobby down stairs (1 computer) though rarely had to wait. all in all great trip no doubt enhanced by the positive hotel experience, definately go back again. definately one of if not the best hotel in terms of value for money simply can't go wrong!

It was very pleasant. I was in the city for establishing relations with different suppliers of LED lights and the hotel was superbly located for that purpose. All I needed to do was simply cross the street and I would be in the very center of the global LED market. There was no need for any motorised transport. However, if I wanted to go to a different district (yes, they call suburbs as districts), the hotel is located right above the Huaqiangbei metro station. From the airport, this hotel is one single (though long) metro ride away. There are many western fast food places around. Pizza Hut and a couple of McDs ensure that you do not go hungry. Three stations away, there are many more multi-cuisine restaurants. Overall, a very practical hotel.

for credibility, many stay in shangri la or pavillion etc. but for the price, i'd say this hotel is perfect. generally regarded by locals to be an 'upmarket' hotel. i've stayed in all the top night hotels in huaqiangbei and can say that for a quarter of the price, this is much better. as an example, the hotel literally next door (grand skylight) costs a lot more. staff can speak reasonable english but don't complicate conversation by asking 'beyond the usual' questions as they'll struggle. clean rooms with all the usual amenities. breakfast is disappointingly basic but only costs 48rmb. lobby is small but grand and the entire building has wifi. it's well known by everybody in shenzhen so finding it is not difficult. 10 min walk from all the action areas in huaqiangbei and 5 min from mtr. fast food outlets such mcdonalds, kfc and pizzahut are 5 mins away - so is starbucks. i finally think i've found the ideal hotel in futian (after approx 15 trips all at different hotels).

i work for a company that has an apartment/office in the millennium oasis complex next door and usually we stay at the sunshine hotel...but due to the close location decided to try this hotel. it was a wonderful stay...food was good, staff was nice...room was clean and well maintained. i am planning another trip to shenzhen during january 2010 and will definitely choose this hotel for this and all future trips. i would like to suggest to people traveling on business that this would be a good choice for your "home away from home".

This is our regular choice. The best we feel. I and our family members stayed about 10 times in this hotel. Breakfast is good. Vegetarian can choose some reasonable items. Very close to Science Museum Metro. Come out of EXIT-C and walk left on the Songling road. 3 to 5 minutes walk. The staff very cooperative. They keep the lugguage for a few days if you want to come back to the same hotel after a few days.Free. I feel the hotel suitable for both Family and business visits.

Facilities This is the smallest room i ever book. but have lounge outside room which is nice and well decorated. (i get know many friend from another country) i feel uncomfortable because 1. when i have sleep and wake up using the stairs 2. the room don't have air flow (first get room smell very awful <smoke> and get another room change) Staff This is the best part. unlike most of chinese hostel / hotel. who don't have any manner for guest. this place have 2 people can speak english. eventhough some people can't speak english but they try thei best to help guest. the manager also kind Cleanliness The room overall is clean. but the restroom inside room (i order room with toilet inside) is not clean. Location Pretty far from subway (10 minute walk) and Hua Qiang Bei Market (20 minute walk). around this hotel many restaurant Overall this hotel is good for solo traveler (especially youth) but i won't go back because i can pay more 100 rmb to get better room hotel near this hotel.

Booked this particular 7 Days Inn because it is located in busy Huaqiangbei, Futian, Shenzhen and is around 15-20 minutes away from Yannan Metro Station. Rates are economical for the Economy room, but does not include toothbrush sets as part of their toiletries package (not that I'm complaining since I always have my own set of toiletries whenever I travel). I had a comfortable bed, a feather pillow and a foam pillow waiting for me as I enter the room. I find the two pillows a nice gesture to help guests have better sleep while staying with them. Thumbs up for that! Cleanliness of the room was acceptable, although water from the shower enclosure tends to leak out after every shower. Staff were nice. Courteous even though there was a guest before me that was plain rude to them.

The room was quite nice and clean, with a computer in, a good business hotel. There's a small sign in the bathroom about due to "going green", the hotel no longer provides single use toiletries, unless you contact housekeeping which I suspect you have to pay for it. So there's no hand soap, which presents a big problem, as everywhere else. At least in our room, we could use the shower gel. We had lunch in the restaurant on the second floor which served Sichuan food, and it was very good. However we saw some food on the floor (as garbage) and seats. My husband used the restroom and he found no hand soap in it - the staff are not washing hands with soap. Keep reading and see why I'm so stressed about soap. For dinner, we went to an alleged 5 star Chinese restaurant near my cousin's flat. Neither food or hygiene was 5 star. 10 minutes after going back to the hotel room, my husband threw up everything he ate. Then he spent the rest of the night having diarrhea. Neither of us slept the entire night. We could hear doors open and close in the other rooms, at all hours of the night, and conversations in the hallway. We all know, or we suppose to all know, that washing hands without soap is a complete waste of time. The microbes cannot be rinsed away with water alone.

i stay here for 6 days, i think this is best location's hotel because my business is around hua qiang bei which is besides of this hotel. in front of this hotel is metro station, and lots small restaurant around there, also great taste and cheap, better than luo hu district i think. this hotel have to renovate the room, it seems old and dirty, i need to change my room three times until i am satisfied with the room. behind all that, this hotel is the best choice for business traveler.
