Innere Stadt hotels & places to stay

Right in the city centre, this is a very convenient hotel for the main sights and shops, with many places to eat and drink nearby. The reception staff were very helpful, not just for hotel issues, but also for advice on things to do in the city, and how and where to arrange things. But the main benefit of this hotel is the room size. A large, well-lit space with separate living and sleeping areas, which makes it perfect for relaxing after a long day trudging around the city. We really enjoyed our stay, and were very pleased with our choice of hotel.

What a delight this hotel was. A study in refined elegance and Viennese old world charm. Excellent location just off the Karntner Strasse and Stephansplatz. Large rooms, excellent service, a joy to return to after each day. Maybe not the cheapest place compared to some in other countries, but not expensive by Viennese standards, and worth every cent of it for the sheer delight of being there. And that is even before you consider the hotel's history and distinguished previous guest list. A must stay for anyone spending time in Vienna.

The stay was very comfortable and made pleasant by the friendly staff. The hotel has been recently refurnished hence there was a feeling of newness in the hotel, which one generally doesn't see in older European hotels. However, the refurbisihing wasn't fully complete and was still going on from the 6th floor upwards. We were on the fifth floor and things got very noisy from early in the morning and woke up the kids. This was a bit odd as we had inquired about this on phone based on other online reviews, before making the reservation and later at the time of checking in, but were told that the refurbishing work was completed. Wonder why they were not transparent about it.

The hotel is centrally located and easy access through public transport (just next to u-bahn station). The hotel is large, we checked in quite early and they still managed to get a room for us rather than wait till a later time. Very stylish room design and very spacious room and bath room. The hotel is just a few minutes walk away from Hofsburg and shopping area, also, a few nice cafes are around (cafe demel and cafe central). We have ordered room service, it was fast, but choices are quite limited for the room service menu.

the best part of this hotel was the location. it was only 5 minutes away, walking distance, from the stephansdom. (stephansdom is connected to all the main streets of vienna.) breakfast was also great. numerous menues to choose from and delicious as well. however, this hotel does not have an air conditioner, only the center cooling system. since summer in vienna is not as hot as any other europe, sometimes it even gets cold at night, this was not a big of an issue for my stay, but if you are really not a summer person, keep this information on your mind.

Staff is very considerate and helpful. I arrive in 0630am early morning during peak season. As my room is not ready yet, they allow me to rest in one of the vacant smaller room while waiting for my room to be available. When I had problems with the keys and main light switch of the room, staffs had immediately volunteer to help. The hotel is located very strategically near U3 train station and can easily connect to other lines. It is in the middle of shopping street, surrounded by many restaurants and walking distance to landmark historical building and opera house.

You cant pass up the location if you are a first time visitor to Vienna. To be able to walk out the front door and experience the amazing architecture immediately gives you the best of this city as a first impression. The impressive St Stephens Cathedrial is a short stroll and is a must see, along with the opera house and other significant buildings. The hotel was very well priced for this area for our stay due to close construction (which wasnt an issue at all). The staff were friendly and efficient, although a little help with our luggage up the short flight of stairs to the elevator would have been appreciated. The room was small but comfortable, bed was amazing and a lovely view from the sixth floor.

The hotel is just across the U-bahn station and the park. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and attractions. I was a bit dumbfounded when the bellboy asked us if we need help to bring the luggage to our room, instead of offering to help instantly (we were travelling for 2 weeks so our luggage wasn't very small). Didn't experience or expect it from a 4-5 stars hotel. Other than that, everything is perfect.

Surprised by the quiet elegance. The room was as we requested: high & away from the elevator. Bed was comfortable and a stand-up shower. Plenty of space for two American suitcases to be laid out. The window let out on the street and we were serenaded by the nearby bar patrons on Friday and Saturday, but the noise disappeared around 11:00 pm. The hotel provides ear-plugs in the room but we never found the need for them. The coffee maker worked fine and the lighting was good. The only down-points were paper: the toilet paper was parchment and the facial tissue almost as coarse. Otherwise, the facilities were great. The staff, especially the front desk, were wonderfully attentive and articulate in directions. On Monday were checked out super early to catch a plane and Toujo (?) ran up and prepared us a take-away breakfast. I'm willing to bet Mozart found 16-18 Tiefer Graben no less satisfying when he rented these accommodations in whatever form they were in 1773.

Vienna has few apartment house. If you search them, usually hit are old fashioned small historical apartment. But Adagio is different. This is a clean and very functional apartment house like Bangkok or Singapore. Of course, no service like luxury hotel, but if it is not your concern, here is for you. Room is very functional. Bed is fordable into the wall, so if you want to use room as office or living, it is best. Some opinion says that the bed mat is too hard, but for us Japanese, this was no problem. Recommend.

i can't imagine a better location for visiting tourist sites in vienna. easy to run back to hotel at any moment for a break. staff is smart and helpful, never a negative reply, managed all my requests including tourist questions and reservations for activities. hotel has nice new bathrooms, yet retains that historical feeling in the public areas and in the rooms. did not eat in hotel so not comments on food.

It was christmas time when we stayed here and there's no where we can go for dinner since the hotel's own restaurant has also been booked out. But the concierge managed to get us reservations at a lovely local restaurant and we were just over the moon. The hotel room itself is also extremely spacious and we love how comfortable it is. The chocolate they leave on our pillows during turn down is really good too. As it was the festive season, we were also very glad to receive a packet of lovely macaroons from the hotel. Definitely a 4-star experience!

Staff are not friendly. They never great you and no bell boy service (I don't know? Maybe I look like Chinese? Anyway I am not) During check out, we were told that we have to for the two beverages that taken from the minibar but we didn't at all. They did not charge us but we felt disappointed on their management. Vienna is such a small place you could actually wak around, the train station that's nearby the hotel isn't useful for us. The hotel is about 1km away from the city center, where the st.stephen cathedral is. However, Stadpark (Johann Strauss monument) is just across the road. We brought our baby with us, we love to bring him to the park for a stroll everyday. Marriott was the best choice. If we traveling to Vienna without our baby, we definitely not staying with Marriott.

the hotel is clean and nicely decorated. the beds are comfortable, the furniture of decent quality and new looking. the bathroom is spotless with new looking suites and a quality shower. location wise the hotel is excellent - just round the corner from the rathaus. this puts you walking distance from the main sights in the innere stadt - though there are hotels that are closer to st stephens and the main museums. did not eat in the hotel

The lady who received us(she is either the owner or the chief administrator) was very friendly and helpful, provided the perfect service, and spoke very good english. She kindly helped us to order the train tickets through the internet and advised us on the good restaurants and the breakfast was perfect. The room was always clean and the toilet (we didn't have one in the room) was only for our room, which was very comfortable. We liked everything - the situation, the type of building, the hotel itself.

The Grand Wien Hotel made our stay in Vienna truly amazing. The rooms were beautifully furnished in classic Viennese baroque style, with a crystal chandelier, palatial wallpaper and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was immaculate, huge and luxurious - lots and lots of space for two people to go about their morning routine, a separate water closet and hot shower above a big tub. The floors of the bathroom were also heated. They also laid out a traditional christmas cake for our tea one of the evenings, and fresh fruit. We also had one of the best hot chocolates in the lobby of the hotel. One of the best features of the Grand Wien is that it is attached to the Ring Gallerie, which had a really good supermarket (Billa Corso) in its basement. So we were able to buy fresh sandwiches, juices, cheese, breads, hams and yoghurt for breakfast, or dinner in the room. We'd definitely stay at the Grand Wien the next time we're back in beautiful Vienna.

the rooms were a little small but very clean and comfortable. hotel facilities were good and were provided free use of of computers for internet access etc. had a problem on check in however. they did not have a record of our reservation and they were otherwise fully booked. they tried to move us to their sister hotel but that was out of the question for our arrangements already made. after a few phone calls, they managed to accommodate us and the check staff was very helpful on this. just thought i would bring this up, i'll email ahead in the future. this was booked a couple of months ahead.
