Mitte hotels & places to stay

The location is quite good, being right outside the train line and less than 15 minutes to most things that you'll want to see. It is also a 3 minute walk from a kiosk which you can purchase beer and cigarettes. This hostel was always clean and nice to stay in. Staff were friendly and happy to help. There is no kitchen or laundry facility in this hostel but you can purchase discounted food at the bar and there is a laundromat around 5 minutes away walking. The drink prices are quite reasonable, offering specials every day. There are lights and USB chargers and a shelf in each bunk. The reason I'd recommend staying at St christophers is the good vibes there. It's very easy to talk with others at the bar insiDe or the tables out front. The atmosphere is friendly and fun.

the hotel was so easy to find, clear signs and very close to everywhere at the city centre! it is located in among a few different Metro station, you can easy walk to the hotel. it takes 5-10 minutes walk to Alexanderplatz ...so it is super convenient ! the hotel looks nice inside, very kind and friendly staff. specially, the MD at the hotel often came to take care his customers by himself and he was very sincere !! his name is Markus! the food is also awesome! very yummy and a lot of choices. they have laundry service costs 5 EUR including drying and they do it for us! the room is big neat and clean. the shower is very good! we liked it there a lot ! everything is perfect for us.

The location was excellent. Just a short walk from the center which had lots of possibilities for eating, shopping and entertainment. The price was also good. There was Wi-Fi plus computers available. One of my discomforts was with the cleaning crew. They came through to clean the toilet and showers every morning but they did not replenish this toilet paper so we ran out. The toilet did not have soap for hand washing. We all had our personal stuff for takING showers, but there was absolutely no soap in the toilet area and that was unsanitary. After about day three of my one week stay, I realized that the cleaning crew was not sweeping the floor. I complained, but nothing was done until I got very upset at day 6 and asked for a broom that I could sweep the room myself. With 6 people in a small room, I think it is important for the room to be swept everyday. The hotel was earning a minimum of 114 Euro her room, so the least they could do is to clean the rooms daily and give a €0.65 hand soap in the toilet area. Another discomfort that I had was the amount of luggage one couple was allowed to take into the room without paying for additional locker space. To save money on renting additional locker space, the couple had a drum set in the small room plus their two large suitcases. There should be a limit on the amount of luggage one or two persons can take into a room that is shared with multiple persons. I personally would return to this hotel and I would recommend it, but the next time I will pay more attention to the cleaning crew that they do the job properly.

Newish hostel in the Mitte area. Very convenient to S and U Bahn and walking distance to a lot of attractions (Museum Island, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate etc.). Oranienburger Strasse, where Generator is located attracts a lot of young tourists on trashy weekenders and there are lots of bars and bad restaurants catering to that crowd. We didn't find that scene very enjoyable compared to other districts in Berlin, but the area is still great if you are only staying for a few days and just want to stay central. The quirky/colourful/industrial design of the hostel is really appealing and the staff are young, energetic and mostly very friendly and helpful. Everything is pretty new but the beds were quite hard and not comfortable. The showers in bathrooms were great though. The cafe food was decent and the bar has a nice social vibe. For the level of comfort, Generator seemed somewhat overpriced compared to other budget accommodation in Berlin, but this might be typical of the Mitte area. Overall, Generator has a nice atmosphere and is pretty good for a couple of days stay.

Located in the central which is close to the metro about 3 minutes walking. There’s a bar downstairs of the hostel and plenty of shops and restaurants around. The receptionist was very nice to me when checked in. The bed and bathroom are clean and comfortable. I was very happy staying there and would love to stay again if I get back to Berlin again. A little annoyed thing was roommates were rude and noisy.

I booked a 10-bed dorm, but for some reason, got placed in an 8-bed dorm, which I didn't mind. The room I had was a corner room, extremely spacious, with large windows that opened out to the main intersection, so it had nice views of the city. Security was tight, which meant that you had to use your swipe card to access the all areas (i.e. the elevator, the room area, and then the actual dorm room). This might be annoying for some, but thought it would be better to be safe than sorry. Strangely, there was only one sink in the toilet, which is meant to service half the floor. So if it is being used, you would have to go to the other toilet on the other side of the floor (you would need to swipe again to get there). I was lucky to get a bottom bunk bed, so it was comfortable for me. Make sure you bring a padlock so you can secure the small locker next to the bed. There are also plenty of hooks and hangers for you to hang your coats, towels, etc. Towels are available for rent for 1euro. Overall, I would recommend this place due to the ample space and cleanliness of the room.

Very Close to Berlin Central Railway Station; Walk-able distance or you can take tram and get down on the next stop :) Free coffee at reception; Received Sparkling Water bottle as Complementary service. We requested to change it with normal water & Mr Ben at reception gave a new bottle immediately. Thanks a ton :) Very Friendly and Polite Staff; We had received very warm welcome and all three members at reception are very nice... They kept our luggage in hotel when we checked out and therefore, we could roam around till evening. Neat and clean rooms; Our special Request for Large bed was fulfilled and we had a very good sleep in the night. Even guest bathrooms were in very good conditions; I did not have food at hotel (being vegetarian and fastidious person) but, you can try out!!! Overall, we enjoyed the stay and we would love to visit it again. Keep surprising us with kindness and attentiveness.

Short walk to Gesundbrunnen station, with a large shopping centre attached to it. Such a great location!! For the room: We had to ask for a second bath towel as we only had 1. The blankets are 2 single blankets even though we had a large bed. There is a kitchen but not much/no cutlery (1 or 2 teaspoons). Do not let this deter you, im sure we could have been provided with some if asked but it didn’t bother us. Just giving a heads up for future guests. However please know we LOVED this hotel and we will be staying here if we return to Berlin in future, I’ll also be recommending it to friends and family. The staff were so great and the bar downstairs made me the best mojito of my life. Such incredible value for money for such a modern and clean hotel. Thanks for the hospitality!

This is a value accommodation, make no mistake. It is well located In Berlin's Mitte quarter, a comfortable walking distance from museum island, the Berlin Dom and Nikolaiquarter. The rooms are tiny but clean. No fridge (or mini bar for that purpose), and no coffee-tea kit in the rooms, but their are air-conditioned and there is free wifi service. So - if you do not expect luxury - you'll probably be fine. On the up side there is a very good breakfast, and the staff are very nice and service oriented, and the hotel sits smack on an underground train station. In short - great for the budget minded traveler in Berlin.

I had a great overall experience and stay at this hotel. No complaints, only compliments. I didn't eat/dine there so I'm not in a position to rate that unfortunately. Also, this is not a criticism but I would only question why my queen size bed had two single blankets, instead of one blanket that fit the whole bed. I also found this at another 4-star hotel I stayed at in Nuremberg, so I can only assume this is the norm within German hotels. Other than that, I am very happy to recommend this hotel to other travellers - whether for business or pleasure. This hotel ticks all the boxes and I would gladly stay there again without any hesitation whatsoever. No need to look for another hotel next time I'm in Berlin. I'll be heading straight to the Winters Hotel Berlin Mitte - Am Gendarmenmarkt. Thank you for a very pleasant stay. Top score goes to the exemplary staff who were very hospitable, pleasant and demonstrated initiative at every juncture.

Hotel within a short walking distance from Brandenburg Tor and city center. Bathroom was spacious and good, but otherwise our family room (2 adults and 2 kids) was very small and one of our kids have to sleep on the floor since the sleep-sofa was too small for two kids, this meant that there was barely a couple foot size space on the floor. Breakfast was sufficient, but no variation over our three nights stay. On the breakfast terrace for some the brave food-picking birds are lovely, we considered it unpleasant. The hotel offers a reasonably priced public car parking on the nearby streets and in the evenings it was easy to find a parking place just in front of the hotel. The staff is helpful and speak good English.

Value for money, although room is a bit small for 2 people. The location of the place is a bit far, even though google maps says its relatively near. You have to walk about 8mins instead of 4mins as indicated in the map. Also, a good thing is that they have a self-check in machine outside when the reception is closed, but also serves as a bad point which is that if there are unfavourable conditions, it will be difficult to check-in. There is a short path from the "gate" to the hotel building itself so do take note. Overall, value for money, especially if on budget.

Hotel is a historic building, looks nice. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Location is not the best for walking to main sightseeing places, at least 20-30mins walk. But there are train/subway stations and bus-stops nearby. Only a couple of restaurants nearby. A small supermarket about 5mins walk away. Breakfast is ok, the menu didn’t change for the 3 days I stayed there.

The room was perfect for a single person and the staff at the reception was extremely helpful.I booked the ensuite room and I have no regrets because the rooms with shared toilets did not look as good. The Pension is very well located near the tube station and only a few stations away from the main historical sites. There are also several restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

The thing we liked about the hotel is that the location is really near the train station. The floor was a little bit creaky, think the building's a little old but we were pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness, hot shower attached bathrooms and CNN! The breakfast was simple and the drinks of juice and coffee were served to you while you can get the food from the buffet spread.

I stayed two nights at Amano Grand Central when I was traveling around Europe by myself. I'm a male in my late 20s, so I didn't have an issue taking a chance on this hotel that seemed too good to be true (at the time there were no Agoda reviews) for the price and location. It was important to me to be near the train station - which this definitely was...and it was a lifesaver when I had to catch a 4:15am train to the airport on my way out. The hotel really IS new, and the rooms were very well appointed (built in towel warmer...?) and modern and clean..even if a little on the small side. I'm also from the US, so maybe "small" is relative - It was certainly more than enough space for me. The beds were very confortable, hardwood floors, modern shower - everything really nice. Even the room lighting was well planned out - and probably gave me a few ideas for my own home. Checking in and out was a breeze, even though I only speak English in any useful capacity. For me the hotel was within walking distance of most everything I wanted to do in Mitte, and was near enough to the Hauptbanhof station to use the U/S-Bahn to get anywhere else around the city. The hotel did have bikes that you could rent, but I didn't try that out. There are a few restaurants in the real immediate area - a lot more things in the way of stores or shops could be found in the central train station - for me I found that there was a really fantastic Doner Kebab street vendor just around the corner... I really enjoyed my stay at Amano, and I'd certainly go back.

We had two children 10 and 8yrs old. So I was a bit worried about location and the neighborhood. I originally booked other hostel due to financial reason but worried about the environment. This place was quite at night, right next to the mall of berlin where we went everyday for their food court. Walking distance to few tourist attraction including brandenburg gate and the spy museum where my daughters loved. I felt pretty safe in the neighborhood. Price was good for the family of four including full kitchen and laundry machine, hair dryer. We stayed at the 3rd fl and 2nd fl was like a hostel. We were there right before the tourist season starts i guess. There weren't that many people so it was quite. Might be different during peak season. There was no AC and out of 4 nights that we stayed, there was only one night that was really hot that we couldnt sleep well and left windows open. There was no screen so got torn up by mosquitoes pretty badly. They didnt even have a fan! If you are travelling during cool season, it shouldnt be a problem

I stayed here in 15 days, quite a long stay, so I think my experience here is quite full. The best thing here is the room is very big, even the double room but you feel like the triple room. It only takes you not more than 10 steps from the gate of the hotel to the U2 line subway. Its only take 2 stations to Alexander shopping center and very very close to many other place. The best thing here is even I arrive to the hotel at 8 O'clock in the morning, but they still give me the key to use the room early. Only one bad thing is, has a day when I bring home a present to my friend. I put the box right on the low-table, beside my luggage. It's a big box, I put out a big present, but still have one small and also my CREDIT CARD inside the box. But 2 days later it's gone. I tried to talk with the hotel but the reception just said that the room service said they don't see the box. Well ~ it's the big box more than 30 cmm each size, and it's disappeared. They said the only thing they can do is call the police, but I think it won't work so we didn't. Tip here is need to check out everything everyday, and put the important thing in the safe box at the hotel. I only don't like the part that my stuff is stolen by someone ~ except that, the room service is fine, but sometime they don't clean it well, sometime its good, depends on who will clean your room on schedule.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The best thing is its location - just few steps from the underground and tram. So close to many attractions in Berlin and also have lots of cafe nearby. I really like to room as well. Very clean and have everything you need such as kitchen and kitchenware is also provided. This should be a great choice for those who travel in group.

Although it is just a one night stay, we find our stay very pleasant and worth the price paid. The hotel is very well maintained and clean. Everything looks new and comfortable to stay in. It is just simple. Given that breakfast is included in the package, it adds on additional touch. The variety is decent and the food taste great. Despite a misunderstanding with the billings, the front desk is able to revert to me in the shortest time. Well done!

Very comfy, quiet, with nice window view and beautiful decor, cleanliness, as well as great, helpful staff. Close to the city attractions, with its own fridge and kitchen inside the room, our stay was as convenient as possible! I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Berlin! It's the second time I have stayed at Derag (Grosse Kurfurst and Mitte) and I would never book a different hotel in Berlin!!!

Overall good accommodation, excellent breakfast, walking distance to Alexanderplatz. Downside was only 1 staff that wasn't in a good mood. When we arrive with dozens of bags asking if the location was corrected according to the booking document we were told we were at the wrong place and we should go to another Ibis near by. That made us getting an extra taxi ride for finally ending at the same hotel again. The point of disagreement was that the hotel address in Agoda is out dated. When asked if she could tell the hotel management about the issue with the address the staff told us that "that wasn't her responsibility". Well... very harm welcome to Berlin.

Arrived in Berlin got the train s-Bahn and then U- Bahn no problem at all. Arrived at the hotel at 10.15am checked in and room was already as we had asked for early check in if possible and the hotel had accommodated. Room was clean, plenty of space and storage for city break. Mini bar full, lovely Elemis products in bathroom. Also they had left room decorated with birthday wishes and a bottle of Prosecco for my boyfriends special birthday, Really lovely thought. Breakfast was continental but very enjoyable with plenty of fresh food and amazing warm croissants. The hotel is in a quieter part of Mitte so sleeping was great. The 2 u Bahn stations is literally under a few minutes walk great access to Alexander Platz and all areas for day and night time trips. Staff that we saw were very polite however we never had no reason to see them. On our return to the hotel it was always Pleasant and would recommend as we had a very enjoyable stay.

I wouldn't say it's very cheap but then considering all other factors, the hotel is definitely a 5 stars for value for money. Location is very central, not sure about the subway connectivity because I didn't use any of it but it is in fact nested in a very nice diverse area of the Mitte region. Within walking distances to shopping areas, nice restaurants and of course, the museum island. Room very well designed and relatively big and I would say, the overall hotel is very good looking, very chic and more towards the boutique style rather than a normal boring hotel. Staff very polite, helpful and excellent. Will recommend for sure.
