Find Hotels in Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia

I've lived in the hot, dusty city of Phnom Penh for seven years, so finding the Nature Lodge in Mondulkiri was like finding a piece of heaven for my family. The Nature Lodge is in the complete boondocks-you won't find a western restaurant or anything western at all within hours of this place. However, if you have young children, they can run in the yard all day, swim in nearby streams and creeks, explore jungle trails, and just be kids, all within a twenty minute drive of this hotel. Upon check in, at first I thought the staff were going to be hard to deal with and make our stay an unenjoyable one. They had put my large family in a single room, which would not have done at all, despite my request on Agoda for a double room. The staff pretty much told me I would have to deal with it, they didn't have anything else, but after three tries I convinced them to move us, which they did. After that the staff grew on me and I found them pleasant and accommodating the rest of the week. One even helped us try to get an enormous toad out of our toilet:) The rooms themselves are not really rooms-they are more like primitive log cabins. When I first entered the cabin I was skeptical that we would enjoy our stay-I am not a fan of spiders, mosquitos and living outside, which is what I thought we were about to encounter. I quickly adjusted, though, and convinced my children that we were "camping out", which is really what the Nature Lodge is-a bit of a camp out! The bathrooms are completely outside surrounded by walls that don't reach the roof, so you can see the stars while you do your business. Each cabin is it's own, so you have your own tiny house to yourself complete with bed and outdoor bathroom but not much else. The food situation can be tricky as your only option is to eat at the Nature Lodge's restaurant, but the menu is big enough and we brought a week's worth of breakfast and saved money by eating in our room every morning. For me, who has been traveling in SE Asia for 2 months, I was ready for some comfort. I was shocked to find it here in N Cambodia, at such a good price. I loved the large room, the amazing vista (I'd requested best possible view), the feel of a western hotel, incredible hot water. The wifi was fast - much appreciated. The down side for others (not for me) was the 5 minute walk to town. For me, that was a plus - chance to get some exercise. You can also order a moto. The negative was the staff's not speaking English more than a few words. The toilet had the usual dyspeptic difficulty in flushing, so check it out before you take a room if that's important to you.

$4/night for a private bungalow with electricity and an ensuite bathroom? Great! However, it's also good to note that our bungalow came with - sheets that weren't just stained (all over, in all colors) but dirty. - a sticky blanket that felt like it hadn't been washed in awhile - a Western toilet with half a toilet seat left that needed to be manually flushed - water pressure at a trickle (cold water only and a wet floor, of course) - all manner of insect roommates (but NOT bed bugs...I checked and that would have been a deal-breaker) - no towels, trash bins, or windows But on the other hand, the English-speaking staff were lovely. And the puppies onsite were at that adorable roly-poly stage where they love to cuddle and play. (In sore need of flea and worm treatment, though...) ...for some it's a great deal, for others an adventure, so...like I said, you get what you pay for!

Our stay was short as we only needed one nights accommodation before going to the elephant valley project outside of town. After a long day of driving in a cramped van to Sen monorom from Phnom Penh, we arrived at 8pm, we were greeted by welcoming faces who helped us to our room. We hadn't had dinner on the bus so we went to the empty dining room where a wonderful girl came out and made food specially for us. The food was lovely and fresh! Our night was pleasant with a clean room and warm showers and when we had to leave early in the morning for the EVP, we had breakfast ready for us! The staff and their welcoming manner made the stay easy and enjoyable!

I said I made a reservation and he had my reservation application. But he said “No room but AGODA has received a reservation” When I asked waht I would do. He said again “No room” and then he offered to give me a room with an air-conditioner for another 10 dollars. I said I wanted the roon I reserved but there is no use. If they returen the amount paid, I look for another accommodation. But they didn’t even give me a refund. I had to pay 6 dollars more to say in. It was a terrible thing I never want to go through gain.
