I've often used the peerless Inn during my visits to Kolkata and have found it very useful - central location, good and spacious rooms, good breakfast spread, and various other options. However, I must admit this time, i was surprised that the bathroom did not have any accessories, not even a shower mat. No shower caps, etc. I wonder if thats a cost saving measure. While the rooms are still great and the facilities are wonderful, for a 4 star hotel, there must be basic toiletries available and especially a shower mat. A bare bathroom is not what one expects in a four star property. On the positive side, the staff are kind and helpful, the food is great, the location is superb.

The hotel provides a good 5-star service at a reasonable price. The problem is the series of local taxes that one has to pay for luxury in West Bengal. Soon one realises that eating and drinking outside the hotel in non-5-star establishments is much much cheaper. The hotel is surrounded by such establishments. As a result the hotel bar and restaurants are usually empty. The local luxury taxes have killed many high end businesses in West Bengal, and it is a surprise that 5-star establishments exist in Kolkata!

Sent a mail in advance requesting a room with a view. I was not only alloted a room with a view but was upgraded as rooms of higher category was available. 5 min walking distance from Keventers. The hotel was clean and the staff was warm. Two points for honest review ( which did not bothered us though ) 1. The way to the hotel was not properly defined, though it is centrally located, you need to ask locals to reach it through lanes and bylanes. 2. There is no lift, so if you need a room with a view, you have to use stairs as there are buildings all around. Overall a value for money.

this hotel is not a big hotel but it is in the centre of kolkata. the hotel style is modern style but not luxury. their lobby is nice but a little bit dark with the in house disco. it is good for traveler not for the business man. it is too noisy, especially the room in the left wing on the second floor. the room size is ok for single but not comfortable for a couple. the good things of this hotel is it is located in the center of kolkata and the staff's hospitality. their breakfast is the best while comparing to the others hotel. anyway, it could not compare to the 5 stars hotel in the international chain or 5 stars hotel in china. the best thing of this hotel is staff hospitality and they can speak very good english.

I stayed at the Aauris Hotel from the 11th of August to 15th of August, 2016 at room 206. Firstly, it is a great location at 4 Robinson Street, ideally located between Park Street, Theater(Shakespeare Sarani) Road, connected by Loudon Street & Rawdon Street. I booked via Agoda.com and got an excellent deal. I paid everything in advance online. When we reach the hotel, I just said my name and they confirmed that everything was in order and they even gave us a free upgrade to a better room. The staff at the reception, service & restaurant was very cordial and helpful. A welcome drink with a complimentary fruit basket in the room would have added a nice touch though, but okay, fine. A temporary disappointment was that the swimming pool area on the rooftop was being renovated, so we did not feel comfortable taking a dip with all the masons going around with construction material. The room & bathroom was nice & clean, no bad odor or anything. They had an iron & an iron board , which was very convenient. Also a digital safe in the room was very helpful. In the bathroom, they lacked a proper towel rack, which was important to keep spreaded wet towels for drying, especially when 2 people are staying in a room. Food (Breakfast & Dinner) at the restaurant was quite nice taste wise. Size of steak that we ordered should certainly increase. There was some problem with the electrical circuit as the circuit breaker tripped twice. Also all power outlets except 1(one) was out of order. The mini bar fridge worked only on the first day and stopped working the next day onward until the day we left. One thing which I found outrageous was that I had 1 (one) liter of water from the mini bar (on the menu, they mentioned was Rupees 60), which I was okay to pay for, but during they checkout I found that they charged me Rs. 118, which was weird. I was in a hurry to reach the airport, hence I did not bother this time. But, I would definitely take up the matter next time I visit here

After searching 5 hotels at midnight in the new market area of Kolkata this is the best hotel considering the location and money. Every staff was wonderful from reception to bell boy to restaurant staffs to security guard. Breakfast was also pretty good which includes 4 types of juices. Room ambience was very nice. There's a fan in the toilet for summer times which is the first I've ever seen. My 3 year old kid enjoyed a lot cause room was specious (executive room). Rooftop restaurant was also good. Very good views.

My stay was there for 4 nights. It is the best hotel I can think of in 4 star category in Salt Lake area. Its very clean and well maintained. Staff are very courteous and polite. Extra demand for anything is immediately taken care of. It was better than my expectation. Just one problem is that there is no Non smoking floor. However, after two days they did their best to make the full 5th floor non smoking area.

written a number of reviews on hyatt kolkata as i always booked this hotel if on a business trip in kolkata, india. going to book the same hotel for my next jul trip. the reason is simple. the location is great, easily accessible. the room is spacious & clean. when we said its five stars, its really five stars hotel. you do not need to worry about the service or room standards. the quality is there. the staffs are friendly and will try to accomodate to your request.

Best spot in Darjeeling and best hotel. Staff are amazing and always willing to help. Short walk to the Chowrasta with heaps of street food vendors and restaurants along the way. Views from the hotel of the Himalayas and close to everything. Rooms are beautiful, clean and comfy beds. Great place to relax out of the hustle and bustle of town. Huge breakfast also was great, mix of both Indian and English. Love this hotel.

I booked the hotel for my parents who were in Calcutta for their tourist visa stamping at the US Consulate. Location: The hotel is 5 mins walk from the consulate and 15 mins walk to the OCS Center. Arrival: My parents arrived 3 hours before the check in time and they were promptly checked in without any hassle. The reception staff were cordial and helped them have a seamless check in process. Room: I had booked the Suite for my parents and it was worth it. They were pleasantly surprised to see th best up the room and liked it very much. They liked the mattress and said it was very comfortable . Breakfast: They breakfast buffet was amazing and apparently the best they had ever had. Price: A bit on the higher side , I paid $94 per night but you get what you pay for. Totally Satisfied. Special notes : My parents were helped by the reception staff to get a last minute print out without which they couldn't have gotten the visa stamping done. So Thank you very much "The Astor"

1) Staff is definitely not very responsive. I required water jug, additional towels, extra bed and for all of this, I had to call front desk at least 4-5 times and had to wait for 20 minutes or more each time. Finally, I patched up with two of the housekeeping staff and they served satisfactorily then. 2) Excellent location: there can be no best location in Kolkata for roaming around, enjoying different kinds of foods ranging from street food to fine dining. 3) Breakfast arrangement was also not very good; cramp of space and options were limited. It can be rated only moderate or below. 4) Agoda made the finest mess by not mentioning children in my booking confirmation receipt. I had to settle this part with front desk one-to-one as I had no proof in the booking receipt that I am travelling with two children. In the end, it landed not very costly but a bit troublesome and unexpected surprise.

In my years of constant travels around the world, i must say this is far the best hotel i've lived in for 5 days in terms of the service rendered. While the hotel itself is classy, quiet and clean, the one thing that you will notice immediate and start appreciating is their people and their hospitality. Everyone there seem very eager to help and that too with a smile. Love this place. Also, one night i had to go see a doctor for an emergency, they arranged the cab, the hospital and someone follow me with my wife by my side. Love it, highly highly recommended. I stayed here at the last minute after having a problem with the hotel I booked in advance. The location is in Ballygunge, which is fairly central. I chose this area particularly because I like south Kolkata the best and this is the nicest hotel in the vicinity. The room was large and in good shape, although there were some old stains on the sheer curtain that were unattractive. The towels also were showing their age at times, but they were always clean and smelled good. The bed was fantastic. The view from my room of a government housing complex was not very attractive, but it didn't bother me much. Wifi worked great and the included breakfast buffet was outstanding. The gym is small but does the job, and the rooftop pool is quite nice. Finally, the staff definitely went out of their way to ensure I had a good stay. I'd stay here again.

I will not say its the best, but its better than many hotels around that location. Very good location all places one used to look during KOLKATA stay is near by. Staff is very friendly, specially of they came to know that you are from BANGLADESH. Then some special greetings is waiting for you. Once i was stacked due to 'FANI' attack, i found no problem to extend my stay and there was no extra charges applied.

The quality of fittings and fixtures, cleanliness, style, sophistication all well below 5 star level. If both the HHI and Taj Bengal fall in this category the HHI is miles behind the Taj in every respect, but not that much cheaper! It was disappointing because I have had a long association with, and feel a sentimental loyalty to, the HHI! Other serious embarrassments - the 'pressure' from staff for tips when one is leaving the hotel; despite speaking English - staff make the most absurd errors when responding to guests' questions; there seems to be little knowledge of place settings and appropriate use of crockery at Mythh restaurant. However, the Manager at Mytth was very responsive and helpful but the problems needs more management attention.

I live in USA and booked a room for my elderly parents for a day. They got into some issues with British embassy and I had to send emails to my parents with more documents so that they get their visa. The hotel staff took all the care to pass it to my parents and worked us to resolve all the issues. This was not the responsibility of the hotel staff. But, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond my expectation. My parents were very pleased with the hospitality of the whole staff. In addition, there was another guy also knew about my parents and took care of my parents. I am so pleased with the staff that I will recommend this hotel to all my friends and family. My sister who lives in London also interacted with the staff and have the same opinion. My parents extended their stay by another day due the great hospitality. I will give it a five star rating and will stay there when I go to Kolkotta in future. Thanks so much

Their restaurant is underrated. I have tasted all the good ones. You can't beat the taste at this price. Seriously JW Kitchen's (Marriot Kolkata) overhyped overpriced food is nothing compared to this. If you are in Park street for 2 days atleaest try their buffet for 1 night. Even Peter Cat and BBQ Nation lose to thses guys when comparing Price to Taste ratio. Room was fine. Had hot water the whole day. Staff were very helpful. Cons- Comb, Dental Kits were missing. Had to ask get a comb after we lost ours. Still those should be provided. Dont use the shampoo provided if you love your hair. We learnt that thr hard way. Kind of weird that this 4 Star(According to Google its 3Star, I personally think it should be 4, has everything except Swiming Pool) hotel cheaps out on toiletries. The WIFI was a true abomination. My home in a remote place has faster broadband than this. TLDR- Very very good food. Very Good staff. Very Good location. Ok Room. Bad Toiletries. Bad WiFi.

Good service, 3 star standard, very clean, comfortable beds, clean toilets, very nice breakfast, decent food with average price, very good staff, reception and manager. Free wifi in the lobby. Will definitely recommend this hotel. Only negative: it is 5 mins from chowrastha but that 5 minutes will be bit painful so 1 star less for the location and cheapest room is very small and TV is at wrong wall.

I seriously don't get what people are complaining about. If you're paying as low as you pay at this hotel, you cannot expect to live like a king or be treated like a king. I went to Golden Apple with very little expectation as i knew this was a budget hotel. Yes the room sizes are small but just perfect enough to fit two people and their luggages. The breakfast cannot be counted as its a bare minimum set meal. But then you have so many cheap food options around, you don't even need to breakfast. The wifi is superb, hot water works perfectly, they do their best they can with room service n all. I must say I am very satisfied with what i got with how much i paid. Which is around $30 per night. You want more, then just pay more and stay at better hotels.

My wife & me stayed in Golden Tulip for three nights prior to our trip to Bhutan. It was a pleasant experience. There was an call from the hotel the previous day asking for my time of arrival. That sort of reassured me that everything is in order. I arrived at about 10:00 am and they accommodated me though the official check in time is 12:00 noon. The staff were always ready to listen to our concerns and were quick to solve the issues. They were always there to help. I had to take quite a no. of print outs which they helped without charging anything. The travel desk also helped us with all required information. Some small issues I faced were that our room was an interconnected one and the door was not sealing at bottom. Hence all voice and noise were coming to our room also. As we did not spend much time in room we did not report it. While checking out when we mentioned this, they were apologetic and said they would have changed our room if we had mentioned earlier.

Although the lobby is quite small I would say this hotel was on par with similar categories in the West. Comfy bed, good bathroom etc. Only 1 block back from Park Street so good location. My only problems were that the wifi didn't work for me and although they have a guest pc in the lobby its not in use. The more annoying thing though was that Reception called my room at 8.10am (while I was still asleep) to ask what time i intended on checking out - annoying to be woken up like that. I told them I would be checking out at noon, but at 10am they rang back and asked the same question.

The hotel was new and in excellent condition, but because of this some of the taxis at the Calcutta airport did not know where the hotel was located. My taxi found the hotel easily and I was very satisfied. However I recommended the hotel to one of my coworkers and his taxi driver could not easily find the hotel. He claims that it took his taxi driver well over an hour to find the hotel which should have only taken about 20 minutes, at most. Because of the hotel’s location you will need to use the hotel’s chauffeured car to get you back to the airport, especially if you are going to connect with an early morning or night flight. This is a quality hotel located hotel and is located in a convenient location near the airport. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The rooms are large, clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel staff did things willingly with any suggestion or insinuation that you needed to give them a tip for their normal services. Unfortunately this is not the way it is in other hotels in and around Calcutta. The hotel did not offer free internet but there were two computers located in the lobby, near the elevators, which were available and free to those staying at the hotel.

I only stayed overnight, and left very early. I was very impressed with the overall ambience of the hotel. The room was tastefully decorated with some nice features. It was pleasantly roomy and very welcoming. I have stayed in a variety of hotels in Kolkata over the last few years, and this was definitely the best value for money. Not so good for access to the inner city, as its a bit far away. Excellent for the airport. If I had to spend time in the city and was not bothered by the distance to the city centre, I would definitely make this my base. For the money it beats any other 'boutique' hotel in the city. I gave a 3 for the food rating because I had to fill in something, but as I didn't eat anything there, I have no idea about that category.

I stayed in this Hotel from 21st feb to 23rdof Feb 2013. I chose this hotel for its location and price. I found this to be the most value for money hotel. A Delux Room would cost u 5k & Suit 7.5k during season. The staff were very helpful & co-operative. Food was very good. The Breakfast was Good. This hotel would suit everyone, be it solo, couple or family. The best of the bestest part is its vincity to the Park Street and local or street market. I recommend this hotel & would certainly put in here in my next visit to Kolkata. Room Tip: Ask for Discount!! Ask the bellboy to recommend you the best room!!

We, as a family of 10 stayed in this resort called Sinclairs in Kalimpong West Bengal, this June. The property is quite beautiful, very green, although it is located quite far from the city center. We had booked this resort thinking that it would be a great experience for our children, but firstly there were almost no activites for the kids, the swimming pool is too small, dirty and shockingly closed at 6 in the evening. The evenings were almost dead for us adults too, no entertainment, no activities. This beautiful property is being ruined by the poor service, despite of having good food, although very limited menu. They keep hosting private parties, which firstly are not good for children to be exposed to and secondly which becomes their top priority neglecting the check in guest. I would not recommend this property.

Everything about this hotel is good and top-notch !! However the staff there do not check the expiry date of the products which they keep in the room; below is the detailed explanation of the same: 1) the milk sachets of "dlecta brand" which they had kept along with the tea and coffee maker was expired months back on 29/9/17. 2) Also there were lots of insects inside the washroom which were sticking on the walls and ceiling and some of them were inside the washbasin. 3) There was no doormat outside the washroom as bedroom and washroom being such luxurious.

As a frequent business traveler I have had all sorts of experience from the best to the worst but from the moment I entered into this hotel I noticed the the high level of service that is provided to the guests. From the entrance to the room every single service that is expected is provided with 100% efficiency. Every single staff members are extremely professional and courteous. No matter what time of the day or night it is you are greeted with a lovely smile at the reception. The first room we had was not quite ok for us so the next day it was changed and the duty manager himself came to apologise for the inconvenience, really impressive. The hotel is absolutely spotless with nice deco in place all over. The Queen Rooms are smaller but the King Rooms where me and my wife stayed are much bigger and more comfortable with all the facilities in place in all the rooms. Daily buffet breakfast is at the 1st floor restaurant. One thing to bare is that this hotel is frequented by mostly Indian business travellers so the breakfast menu is mostly local, a small number of European items are served which remains the same everyday but WHILE YOH ARE IN INDIA WHY NOT TRY THE DELICIOUS LOCAL FLAVOURS. You can also choose your items and ask them to be delivered to your room or even phone the restaurant and the items you ask for will be delivered. The restaurant also serves an excellent BUY 1 GET 1 FREE buffet lunch from 1pm-3pm for only 795 Rupees+tax with plenty of items to choose from. The bar has a BUY 1 GET 1 FREE offer on all drinks from 1pm-7:30pm. There is a nice small gym with 2 spectate shower rooms (male & female) on the 2nd floor and a lovely pool on the top floor with a great view of the city. The CEO MR ATUL ASTHANA is an extraordinary and a very down to earth individual who is always keen to help the guests, you can see him walking all over the hotel at all times to make sure that everything is ok for the guests. We found the hotel very nice considering the money spent for it. Hotel room was neat and clean, staff is well behaved and co-operative. All the services were very prompt. Food was really tasty and worth the money spent. All in all, we were quite impressed, and considering this hotel is only 5-10minutes drive from Airport, we will sure come here again when transiting at Kolkata.
