Great centrally located, excellent services”
I really recommend Scindhia guest house. Perfect location next to the river, a little bit difficult to reach the hotel from the main street because the cars didn’t get straight to the hotel, so better ask the owner how to easy get it. The staff is really very helpful – thanks a lot for everything. Rooms and bathroom are clean, no problem with a hot water and air condition, food is good. You can step out the back door of the hotel and down to the river, for a boat ride or a walk along the ghats, you can also take a boat ride from the hotel. I definitely recommended the rooms with a balcony so you can easy watch the life on the river everytime. for me was perfect, I can come back again.

Best Location, Excellent Services”
Our group of 10 occupied the 4 riverfront rooms, so we don't have to share the balcony with other guests. Had majestic view sunrise/sunset over the Ganges, and even (part of) the famous Manikanikar burning site. For this reason I give 5 stars for the location. True, it is difficult to reach the hotel from main street because you have to walk through the long narrow winding alley. Those who arrive with suitcases or elders, better take a tuk-tuk to Raj Ghat and hire a boat to Scindhia Ghat (10 minutes w cool river sightseeing): it costs only a few hundred rupees to save you all the troubles. Kush the manager was very kind and honest. He helped us find everything and made delicious Indian dinner, all at very reasonable prices. The 3 young men who work there are very helpful and friendly. As to the rooms, nothing fancy, only serve the basic needs, but clean enough. We didn't use the air-cons in January (10-20 C). Hot water really worked. Will stay here for next trip.

Beautiful View & Professional Staff!”
We rented a room with the balcony. The view is very nice. The staff are also helpful. No free breakfast but they have a menu we could order food and drinks. The only point is that, for now, due to the temple’s renovation, the cars and rickshaws cannot take you closer to the guest house as before and one needs to be prepared to walk a bit longer than before to get to the ghat/guest house. All worthwhile at the end though:-)

The owner and the staff were so friendly and kind ! In fact, I was going to stay there just one day but stayed one more night. Also, The view of Ganges River from the balcony was so nice !! You can go to Manikarnika Ghat on foot too.

The room is basic,but Kush the owner humbly & helpfull.Actually, not easy to find this hotel espeacially you are foreign,so you have make arrangment with Kush to pick you up. We love stayed in this hotel, near burning & scindhia ghat ....over the window,we can see morning sunshine in Gangga river...

Nice staff, suggest to inform Property owner to arrange airport transfer. Guest have to walk about 20-30 mins to Guest house. Ola only drop off at the main road, owner is good, offer local walking tour / boat tour.

Very comfortable, clean and cozy rooms overseaing the Ganga. But NOT SUITABLE IF YOU ARE GOING WITH ELDERS. A walk of two Kilometers is a big task. They provide a porter to carry the luggage, at a cost, but walking is unavoidable, through the narrow lanes. No conveyance till the Guest House. Food, though tasty, is very costly and not sumptuous. South Indian dishes are available at a distance of 1 to 2 Kilometers walk. Staff are courteous and very co-operative. If one is compfortable with walk of about half an hour, this is a best place to stay.

Close to Ganga, but cages cover open areas which isn't pleasant, food/restaurant expensive and lacking. Shared bathroom may require traversing a few flights of steep stairs depending on which floor located. Staff/manager missing in action most of the time.

Great centrally located budget option”
For the price, Scindhia guest house is a great option. Perfect location next to the river, helpful staff, and good clean food at the restaurant. You can step out the back door of the hotel and down to the river, for a boat ride or a walk along the ghats. I considered staying farther away from the river, and am glad I didn't, as it was nice to be able to explore the river area at my leisure. When staying at a guest house, you have to keep in mind that you are only paying ~$30 for a room, and you can't expect the same things you would find at an international hotel that costs four times or more in the Cantonment area. Keep that in mind and staying at a guest house is a great way to see the old city area in Varanasi.

This was my third visit. First as couple, second with friends and third as couple with British, Swiss, Polish friends. Everyone loved it each time. The sunken temple is just in front of the window. The Manikarnika ghat is close enough to reach in one minutes walk. Dolphin restaurant is 5 minutes and the Dashashwamedha ghat 7 minutes. You feel like in one of those homes in the narrow streets. You actually walk those streets for 15 minutes to reach from the cab drop off.(There are porters). The other side of the guest house exits directly to the ghats. I have stayed at other well known ghat guest houses before Ifound Scindhia house. Now this is the first choice each time.

Perfect Stay on the Ganga”
Do not be fooled by the outward appearance of Scindhia Guest House! We had a fantastic stay. Excellent service - attention to detail. Most helpful advise regarding what to do and where to go. Best dinners ... Mr Bharman cooked up perfect meals. Balcony views of sunrise over the Ganga. Thank you Kush for looking after us as if we were family. Yourself and the Scindhia team made our first visit to Varanasi so special.

Where the Action Is!”
Scindhia Guest House is very clean and comfortable and I felt safe there. Kush was wonderful, made sure all our needs were met, found guides last minute on a holiday day/night; sat down to talk and explain any questions we had about Indian culture, etc. The upgraded room with balcony and air conditioning was great! My room had TV, as well as internet service. Overall, a fabulous experience, and I would highly recommend Scindhia Guest House.

Scindhia Guest House offers the best for a gentle price and is located direct at the Ganges near the burning Ghat. Best way to get there for the first time is with boat from Assi Ghat (only ghat which can be reached by car)

we ended up staying for 7 more nights, loved the corner room with extensive balcony, that was cleaned regularly. the hotel manager and his staff are professional and very friendly, caring and welcoming. tours, taxis and day trips can be booked from there, which is very convenient.we loved the breakfasts and clean service. all in all very happy with scindhia guest house, would definetely stay there again.

I had magical three day stay in Varanasi, and the Scindhia guest house was a big part of the experience. Not exactly centrally located; by the burning ghat, but advantageously located away from the crowds. The view from my super deluxe room was like a 19th century painting , complete with monkeys playing on the rooftops. I would have loved to have stayed longer. Highly recommend this guest house!

Good for Basic”
The staff at Scindhia were very professional and nice. The facilities themselves may be difficult for certain people. For me, I had a hard time, because I stayed in the 'winter' time and it was very, very cold. It was hard for me to get used to freezing during the night and morning hours, and thus, difficult to deal with the morning routine of showering (in the cold) and so forth. Do note that you *must* be able to climb steep stairs. If you cannot, Varanasi may not be the right choice for you. Also, I found the food to be largely unsatisfactory. I was able to feed it to the dogs, which made me happy, but for me, I just couldn't eat it. It was quite expensive, too. The view is pretty if you stay in a balcony room, and do know the balcony is shared with other rooms. I would not stay here again because it was just too 'rustic' for me. The city is rough, so I would have preferred a nicer room. But--if you just want an affordable place to stay, then Scindhia Guest House is it.

A great hotel with amazing view”
Scindhia has stunning view of Varanasi river side from its top floor, excellent location where only few minutes walk to Manikarnika (Burning) Ghat and Dashashmawedh Ghat. The hotel manager, Mr. Kush is a great manager who will be there to always helpful and friendly. I definitely will stay again at this hotel.

Very good”
Good location, little north of the center of the main ghat but if you‘re into the burning ghats it probably is perfect as it is just a 3 minute walk to the main burning ghat of varanasi (beware of scams, and do not take pics of the burning ghat - consider this as someone unrelated coming to your mothers funeral and taking pics - inappropriate!). The guest house has great overviews of the river and offers all you can think of. However: the „old city tour“ with an old friend of the house mainly contained „look at this - how old!!“ and included a visit at a friends silk seller where we firmly had to say „NO!“ we don‘t want to buy. (After all, „up-tourism“ seems the better choice for a guided walk, albeit more expensive). Matresses are thin but considerate for the price. Restaurant means someone will cook for you, food is good although don‘t expect culinary highlights.
